Good Times in Texas: A Pretty Complete Guide to Where the Fun Is: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Good Times in Texas: A Pretty Complete Guide to Where the Fun Is" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Texas is never boring. The variety of things to see and do, sniff and taste, wonder at and run from would take a lifetime to enjoy. Good Times in Texas covers the well-publicized attractions but also goes off the beaten path to find other people, places, and events that make this state unique. For instance, theres a piece of apple pie preserved in helium at Amarillos Helium Monument. Poteet boasts a 7 foot strawberry. San Antonio turns an annual river-cleaning project into the Riverwalk Bottom Festival and Mud Parade. The tallest cross in the Western Hemisphere, near Amarillo, is visible from 20 miles away. And you can really clear your sinuses at Terlinguas annual chilli-cook-offs. This humorous guide to where the fun is begins with a chapter on some of the strange stuff that can be found across the state.

Introduction
Texas defies classification. You can't adequately describe a state that ranges over 800 miles north to south and nearly that east to west; that has climates ranging from subtropical to alpine; that hosted some of the first Europeans to visit North America and sent the first men to walk on the moon; that has treeless deserts but also more national champion trees than any other states except California and Florida.
This is a good thing. Since no one can adequately describe Texas (at least not in a book the average person can carry unaided), the only way to appreciate it is to go see it for yourself. No matter what part of Texas I've visited (and I've seen 'em all) I've never failed to meet at least one person who said, "I had no idea Texas had a place like this."
Prepare to be amazed.
You probably will never have seen a guidebook like this one either. Most guidebooks are organized by region. This one is organized by topic, then by city. Is food your thing, and you're traveling along U.S. 77 in South Texas wondering where you might find a good chicken fried steak? See Chapter 2.
Looking for a camping place for the night? See Chapter 15.
Hankering to go to a weird festival or cook-off this weekend? Try Chapter 6.
Scenic drives? We've got the best in Chapter 16. In all there are 17 chapters pointing you to what's fun in Texas. And if you're the kind of person who can never decide between pecan pie or peach cobbler for dessert, no problem.
