The Diary of a Hounslow Girl is the third touring production from Black Theatre Live, a pioneering consortium of eight regional theatres. We are committed to effecting change for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic touring theatre through a sustainable 3-year programme of national touring, structural support and audience development. Supported by Arts Council England, the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the Ernest Cook Trust.
It follows Black Theatre Lives previous successes in 2015 with Macbeth directed by Jatinder Verma and Pitch Lake Productions She Called Me Mother, starring BAFTA award nominated actress Cathy Tyson.
The initiative is a partnership of Tara Arts (London), Derby Theatre, Queens Hall Arts (Hexham), the Lighthouse (Poole), Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds, Theatre Royal Margate, Stratford Circus Arts Centre (London) and Key Theatre (Peterborough).
Our tours are supported by work with the Audience Agency, Mobius PR, Hardish Virk, Kings College (London), Stage Text, Pilot Theatre and Outreach Associates at the consortium theatres.
In Autumn 2016 Black Theatre Live tours, in association with Watford Palace Theatre, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, directed by Jeffrey Kissoon, adapted by Mark Norfolk; the production will be a first in the UK with an all-black cast and director.
