Preface

Starting and operating a new venture in ones own country involves considerable risk and energy to overcome all the obstacles involved. These are significantly compounded when one crosses national bordersthe fate of the global entrepreneur. This book is designed to help understand all these international obstacles and to assist in starting and growing a successful international venture.

To provide an understanding of the person and the process of creating and growing an international venture, the third edition of the book, International Entrepreneurship, is divided into three partsinternational entrepreneurship and opportunities, entering the global market, and managing the global entrepreneurial enterprise.

(International Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Opportunities) deals with the aspects of being a global entrepreneur and identifying global opportunities. Specific issues covered include the importance of international entrepreneurship, globalization and the international environment, the impact of a culture, the global entrepreneur and his or her venture, and the global monetary system.

The chapters describing the general nature and aspects of international entrepreneurship are followed by material on entering a global market ( are extremely important, because without a successful global market selection and entry, obtaining sales and revenues from the global effort becomes very difficult. These three chapters address the selection of international business opportunities, the development of the global business plan, and the international legal concerns that the global entrepreneur needs to address.

The final section of the book, , deals with all aspects of managing the global entrepreneurial enterprise. The specific areas addressed include alternative entry strategies for entering the selected market, global marketing and research and development, global human resource management, and implementing and managing a global entrepreneurial strategy and venture.
