To all the inspiring librarians across the globe who aspire to make great marketing videos and bring attention to the essential services we provide as a profession.
Preface
Like many not-for-profit organizations, libraries are oftentimes reliant on self-promotion in order to raise awareness of their services, resources, and even their value. Marketing efforts can help increase this awareness as well as positively impact the perception of libraries in the communities they serve. Whether it be a public, an academic, or a special library, strong marketing practices are critical for a librarys survival. Libraries that do not engage in marketing practices or are unable to promote their services and resources through marketing efforts run the risk of losing the support of their users and the communities they serve.
Video marketing has many benefits; its an excellent tool for creating awareness, capturing your audiences attention, and fostering positive relationships within your community. The explosion of online sharing in recent years has only further increased the popularity of video and we firmly believe that libraries can only benefit from tapping into the richness of video marketing.
