Introduction

T he first time I published details about the remarkable transformation happening in DBS Bank was 2017 in my book Excellence in Execution . Piyush Gupta, CEO of DBS Group, thoughtfully wrote the foreword for that book. The digital transformation of DBS Bank was included as a successful case study of strategy implementation (my field of specialty). I had also published the first of two case studies about the bank with Singapore Management University. At that time, the bank had just won the inaugural Worlds Best Digital Bank award from Euromoney magazine.

But that was only a hint at what was to come!

My challenge has been to capture this exceptional digital transformation in the pages of this book. In Worlds Best Bank , I reflect the passion and intricacy that drove the banks transformation to become the worlds best, while providing a strategic guide to digital transformation for you.
