BIBLIOGRAPHY
THERE WERE well over five hundred books on swords, mountings, and smiths, in Japanese (some date from 1312) before the Meiji Restoration. However, none of these volumes may be relied upon solely, for errors crept into even the most careful studies.
There have been many intensive and complete books on the subject in recent years. However, not many of these books are available in English. The following is a list of the more outstanding publications:
