Bobbing for Popcorn
TEACH IT:
This is a great game to play with your dog on a hot summer day. Teach him to become comfortable in water by having him to pick out popcorn from a shallow pool. Go ahead, dive right in!
Sit in an empty, dry wading pool and hold out some popcorn to your dog. He will be unsure about the wading pool and will need a little time to get used to it before he is confident enough to step inside.
Put just an inch (2 cm) of water in the pool. Move your treat across to the middle of the pool to try to get your dog to follow it and step inside.
Put a little more water in the pool. Toss some popcorn in the water. Your dog will try to get the popcorn, but may be hesitant to step all the way inside. Thats okay, give him time to get used to it.
Fill the pool to the top. Sprinkle popcorn in the pool and let your dog have fun finding them and fishing them out.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Some dogs adore water and will splash right in. Other dogs will act like they dont want to get their paws wet at all! Be patient with your dog and hell become more brave.
BEFORE YOU START
Does your dog like popcorn? If not, use cheese puffs, goldfish crackers, or Cheerios.

MY DOG WONT GO IN THE WATER
Some dogs love water and some do not. Never lift your dog into the pool; let him decide on his own when he is ready to enter.
TIP! Play this game on a hot day when your dog will enjoy cooling off in the water.
STEPS:
Sit in an empty pool. Offer your dog popcorn. He might be a little scared of the pool at first.
Put a little water in the pool. Move a treat over to the middle of the pool to try to get your dog to step inside.
Put a little water in the pool and toss in some popcorn. Your dog will be hesitant at first.
Fill the pool to the top. Sprinkle in several popcorn pieces and let your dog find them and fish them out.

Muffin Tin
TEACH IT:
Hide tiny treats in a muffin tin and cover the cups with tennis balls. Can your dog figure out how to get the treats?
Let your dog watch as you place one treat in each muffin tin cup.
Tell your dog excitedly to find it! and let him come and eat the treats.
Try the same thing again, only this time place a tennis ball in one of the cups (on top of a treat). Encourage your dog to get all of the treats, including the one under the ball.
The next time, put treats in all the cups and cover half of them with tennis balls. Can your dog find all of the treats?
A real pro will be able to find the treats even with balls covering ALL of the cups!
WHAT TO EXPECT: Dogs love this game! With your encouragement your dog can learn this game in ten minutes.
BEFORE YOU START
Small, hard treats work best for this game. You can even use your dogs kibble for treats.
TROUBLESHOOTING
MY DOG GIVES UP
Quickly lift one of the tennis balls to show your dog the treat underneath. That should motivate him to keep trying.
