Most gambling experts advise us not to use any betting system and they seldom, if ever, give us any suggestions on how to increase our odds of winning. Nor do they give us advice on how to recover our gambling losses. The purpose of this booklet is to illustrate how gambling losses have a high probability of being recovered when using The Rule of 2/3rds. During the past couple of years, I have written a number of booklets describing an improvement that I made to the two centuries old Martingale Betting System. Instead of doubling the bet after every loss, betting sequences that contain a number of similar wagers are doubled instead. Consequently, additional bets can be placed prior to reaching the table limit.

To give full credit to whomever came up with the original idea of doubling the bet after every loss, I titled this improvement The Improved Martingale Betting System. Although I do win more often when I use this improvement, I still lose. When I do, I will sometimes bet the amount lost on the red or black propositions of roulette. However, the results were usually an increase in my losses as the odds of winning this 1 x 1 payout wager are for 48.6% and 47.4% on European or American roulette tables. As a consequence of these losses, I made it my goal to find a way to increase my odds of winning. The results of this goal is a betting strategy that I have titled The Rule of 2/3rds.

My odds of winning have now been increased to a minimum of 81.1% and can be increased to a maximum of 94.6% on every spin of the wheel! Depending on a casinos minimum and maximum table limit, the wagers that can be placed to recover substantial losses can be limited. However, large amounts have the potential to be recovered when a number of smaller bets for the same amounts are placed and won repeatedly. There is one disadvantage of the 2/3rds rule. It takes a minimum investment of at least five times the amount to be recovered to get the favorable odds of 81.1%. On the following pages, examples of the 2/3rds rule have been explained in detail so that this method of recovering gambling losses is readily understood. This is the purpose for this new September 2016 edition.

Although the 2/3rds rule was designed primarily to recover gambling losses, it can also be used for short sessions of normal roulette play. Even though the odds are in favor of the player when using this rule, keep in mind that there are always black swans that land when least expected! As previously mentioned, the recovery of any loss will require an investment of at least five times the lost amount and five consecutive wins to break even!
