Once a year with a laugh and a song,
Old Father Christmas comes along;
His pockets are full of books and toys
For all the good little girls and boys.
Hes a book for you and a toy for me,
Something for all of us brings he;
His round face glows and his eyes shine bright,
To please the children is his delight!
And the snow may fall and the wind may storm,
But Old Father Christmass
heart is warm,
For it makes him a happy
old man to know
The dear little children
love him so!
Now dont complainits no use in the end,
Said the big plum pudding to
his Christmas friend,
Weve got to be eatenthats why were here
Were part of the family Christmas cheer!
You dont hear me grumbling at my own lot
Though the fire is fierce and
the water is hot
To be beautifully cooked and dished up in state
Then eaten by the children
its a lovely fate!
Wake and get upits Christmas Day
We want to have a game of play.
Hurrah, hurrah, said Dolly in glee,
Heres a lovely Christmas hamper for me !
When winds blow cold, and the winter comes,
And all our fingers feel just like thumbs,
Then Jack Frost comes along, you know,
And peppers all the world with snow.
An icy smile his sharp face wears,
As to nip the children he prepares;
But all the little folks laugh at him,
His bitter smile and pepperpot grim !
They skate on his ice and play with his snow
They dont care a pin for himoh dear no!
Two merry men of snow are we,
Off for some fun, as you can see.
The children made us yesterday
It was a splendid game of play!
But now theyre safe tucked up in bed,
We mean to have some fun! they said.
But oh, the morning after, when
The children saw those two snowmen,
One had no arms, the other no eyes
Oh just look! cried they in surprise!
What can have happened ! ah, we know well
But tales out of school we never tell !
Please Father Christmas,
Dolly and me
Have both been as good as
good can be;
So dont forget us on Christmas Day

Old Jack Frost and the Snowman white
Dined together one Christmas night ;
The beef and the pudding both were frozen
It wasnt a dinner that Id
have chosen.
Theyd frosty cheese and frozen wine
Im glad they didnt ask me to dine.
At Christmas even Punch and Judy know
Whats the proper use of the mistletoe !
Go home, you foolish little rat
Beware the big-eyed Bogey Cat ;
Its Christmas night,
he wants to sup
Go home, or he will
eat you up !
This is the cracker they pulled between them
I wish youd been there, just to have seen them !
When it went off bang, Oh, both of them cried
And these are the things they found inside.
Dreadful headache ? Thats not nice
Christmas-time-too many mice ;
Try a seltzer shower bath, sir
Finest remedy, Mr. Purr.
At the Tabbykins Christmas ball
Miss Tabitha met young Tom
in the hall,
And he kissed her under the mistletoe
At least, a little mouse told me so.
The Dollies have given a fancy ball,
They asked the Wooden Dollies and all,
The prettiest there was the Lady Bell,
Who played the hostess extremely well.
One Doll came as a Japanese,
The Tin and Wood Soldiers stood at ease ;
The Dancing Doll was much admired,
And danced until she got quite tired.
And all the Dolls said as home they went,
What a pleasant evening they had spent.
Wait a minute,
little Miss
May I have one
tiny kiss ?
This is a pretty way to
treat me
Arent you going to
stuff and eat me !
