For Dr. John Kenny Crane, educator extraordinaire in his roles as former dean of arts and humanities at San Jose State University, English Department head at Oklahoma State University, associate chair for English Department Commonwealth Campuses at Penn State University, English faculty member, and my husband.

I dedicated my first book to him. He passed away on June 10, 2016, as I was completing the last pages of this book, from a debilitating neurological disease that he suffered from for more than twenty years and caused him to retire early in 1998 from all the educational responsibilities he loved so much. He is now at peace with no more suffering.
