A NOTE FROM OUR AUTHOR
The basic approach of this TEAS Crash Course is simple: the targeted content review covers exactly what you need to know for the TEAS. You wont waste valuable study time slogging through long paragraphs, complicated explanations, and endless lists of items to memorize. The sample problems in the book will demonstrate how you should answer the types of questions you can expect to see on the TEAS.
Before you start studying, ask yourself: how prepared are you to take the TEAS? Some students will be ready to take the test the minute they pick up this book, while another segment of test-takers may be completely underprepared. Most test-takers will fall somewhere between these two extremes. Maybe youre more confident (and competent) in some areas than you are in others. So what should you do? There are four ways to study with this Crash Course. Pick the one that works best for you.
1. The Systematic Approach Start at the beginning and go through the entire book, chapter by chapter, problem by problem, not skipping anything, and making sure you cover every topic thoroughly.
2. The Strength Approach Review the sections that you feel are your strong points, then work into areas that give you trouble. Starting with your strengths will give you the confidence and positive attitude you need to press on, tackle the areas you need the most help in, and ultimately do well on this test.
3. The Weakness Approach Study the sections that you feel are your weakest and move on from there. For example, are your Math skills rusty? Then start with and study them carefully. Once you have shored up your weak areas, move on to your stronger areas, building your knowledge and confidence page by page.
4. The Blank Slate Approach Unsure of your strengths or your weaknesses? Then start anywhere you like in the book and branch out from there. As you review each section, youll soon get an idea of how much you know (or dont know) about a given topic. By committing to studying, youre gaining knowledge and belief in yourself.
In working through the book regardless of your chosen study approach youll eventually get to the point where you feel ready to take a practice test. At that point, go to the online REA Study Center: www.rea.com/studycenter, take the free practice test, and see how well you score. (You can also take the online practice test before you begin studying to gauge your overall understanding of the topics tested on the TEAS.) Diagnostic feedback pinpoints your strengths and weaknesses and shows you where you need further review.
Study hard, and good luck on your test!
