What is fall?
Most places on Earth have four
seasons that follow the same
pattern each year. The pattern
always repeats in the same way:
winter spring summer fall
winter. Fall always comes after
summer and before winter. In some
places, fall is called autumn.

Tilting away
During fall in North America, the northern parts of
Earth begin to tilt away from the Sun. This means North
America is receiving less sunlight. Less sunlight brings
cooler temperatures and shorter amounts of daylight.
Warm days and cool nights are
signs that fall has arrived. What
