Introduction
The world knows you by your name. It is the vehicle by which you are introduced, identified, and remembered.
A name is one of the first and most important gifts a parent bestows upon a newborn child. Think about it: How many times during the course of your lifetime have you said, My name is? In choosing a name for your baby you are making a major decision that he or she will have to live with for a long time. This book has been designed to help you make that all-important choice in a new, interesting, and different way. Numerologists believe that a name is made up of a series of numerical vibrations that contain the essence of a persons identity. A chart of number/letter correspondences is used to compute the numerological value of a name and thus determine its vibrational qualities. Many people do not believe in numerology and consider it, along with astrology and the tarot, as unscientific hocus pocus.
Others are true believers willing to accept anything that will tell them what they want to hear. My own view is that systems of divination are tools that can help us focus our inner senses. They stimulate natural intuition by opening up channels of information not otherwise available to the conscious mind. It doesnt matter so much how or why the system works. What really matters is whether its techniques can provide you with meaningful information and valid answers to your questions. I cannot persuade you that numerology works simply by explaining it and its history to you.
The truth of it is something that you must discover for yourself. The ancients believed that a persons name mystically encoded information about his essential character, personality, and destiny. In this book you will learn how to select a name that has a numerological value associated with personality characteristics that you admire, and which you believe will give your child a head start and be an asset throughout life. Where several possibilities exist for the meanings and languages of origin of a name, I have relied on my own judgment. For language of origin I have consistently chosen the first or earliest language in which the name appeared. Shortened forms and nicknames are given the same meanings as the names from which they are derived.
The classification of a name as female, male, or unisex is something that is always changing, and I followed current usage. With regard to personal pronouns, I have used he and she interchangeably in order to avoid the awkwardness of using he/she. It is my hope that this book will not only be used for naming babies. I trust that while reading it you will want to look up the meanings and personality characteristics of your own names and those of your friends and family. The answers you find will empower you because they lead to a deeper understanding of who you are. I wish you the best of luck in your search for the perfect, most meaningful name for your beautiful new baby boy or girl.
I trust that Numerology for Baby Names will make this search especially fan and interesting, and ultimately successful.

Choosing A Name
The Right Name?
If given a choice, most people would probably not pick the names they were given at birth. Since the popularity of a name is subject to change from generation to generation, it is likely that the fashionable names given to a child today will be out of style by the time he is an adult. No matter how much thought you give to the selection of your babys name, there is no way to guarantee that it will be pleasing to your offspring in the years to come. I wonder how many conservative children of hippie parents are happy with their unique and unusual names. Certain names never go out of style, but even the most popular traditional names are not agreeable to everyone.
