Foreword
Children play. It is their nature to play. When mindfulness for children engages them in a fun, playful way, they will be drawn into their own natural focus and calm. Mindfulness will always be relevant for their lives because they can use its toolsawareness of breath, movement, and stillnessanywhere along their life path.
Dr. Tracy Daniel knows this. She has dedicated her career to creatively adapting meditative experiences into fun activities for children. Among her many stellar qualifications is one with which I am particularly familiar, and that I find sprinkled throughout this wonderful book: her work as a certified teacher of Radiant Child Yoga.
When I began teaching children yoga and mindfulness several decades ago, I noticed something remarkable: children had a much easier time than adults in learning to be present... being mindful in the moment. I found that I became more present to the here and now when I was with children. I know that Tracy has experienced this, too. It is one of the reasons she has devoted her life to children. She wants to help them stay connected, present, and mindful of themselves. And just like me, she has noticed that purposeful play is the key method. Within these pages you will find one creative activity after another that will allow you and your children to enjoy purposeful play together.
Prepare to discover a multitude of mindful activities in these pages: meditations, yoga movements, games, art projects, guided relaxations, and much more. Tracys clear and practical style makes it easy to jump right in with your children in tow, with all of you becoming more mindful, joyful, calm, and connected to yourselves and each other. Im so happy to see a Radiant Child Yoga trainer like Tracy bringing these gifts to families, teachers, and, most of all, to the beautiful souls we call children!

Acknowledgments
I am so very grateful to the many individuals who have indirectly and directly contributed to this book. I want to express my sincerest gratitude to my yoga and mindfulness mentors, for without their knowledge and expertise this mindfulness journey would not have been possible. Id first like to thank Angie Eckenroth, who introduced this marathon runner to the amazing benefits of yoga. Angie has been a phenomenal yoga resource, mentor, and friend throughout the years. Shakta Khalsa, for showing me how to teach yoga and meditation to children. Shakta is one of the most inspirational individuals I have ever met. Lindsey Thomas Lieneck, for sharing her occupational therapy, mindfulness, and aerial yoga knowledge. Lindsey has been an invaluable resource for my aerial yoga business. These women have shaped my personal mindfulness practice, my work with children, and my business practices. I am forever grateful for the knowledge, wisdom, and philosophy they have shared with me.
