Be A Winner At Keno
By Pat Budd
SECTION ONE

Introduction

Everyone likes to play games. Most of usstarted as children, playing Monopoly or cards and as we becameadults we may have switched our choice to bingo, poker, blackjack, canasta or bridge. Nowadays many of us play, and sometimes win, thevarious available lottery games and when in a casino we may playkeno, which is very similar to the lottery. In fact keno play is atan all time high.

Wouldnt it be wonderful to win a bigmonetary prize? I think most of us have dreamed of doing just that. All our money worries washed away, money to spend as we please, nomore nine to five job, spending our days doing whatever we please. If only it was that simple!

Most of us have played keno at one time or another, but rarely have we done so with any real sense that we would becomewealthy from our play.

No one can predict which numbers will appearin a keno game, so basically we are all in the same boat on this.It might be possible to set up a research project that couldaccurately predict the winning numbers, but such an undertakingwould likely cost more than the keno prize is worth.

I, along with anyone else who makes such aclaim, cannot tell you which numbers are going to be selected in akeno game. But there are some known strategies and tips that seemto help and that is what Ill introduce in this book.

There is one thing that I can tell you with absolutecertainty: If you dont play keno you will absolutely never win.People do win at keno and you have at least as good a chance asanyone else. With tips and strategies youll be better prepared towin than the casual, once in a while, no plan, no strategyplayer.

Whether you play just for fun or you want tostep it up a bit and play toward a big win, there will be somethingin this book for you.

I caution you to remember that playing kenois a form of gambling and for some people the allure of playing towin hundreds or thousands of dollars can be addictive. You dontwant to find yourself in the position of trying to win back moneythat you need for other things, so play accordingly, using onlymoney that you have designated for keno entertainment.

The odds associated with winning at keno canbe daunting, but people do win and the amounts they win aresometimes very big.

When playing keno you can make choices thatwork for you such as:

Play conservatively

Be aggressive

Play small amounts or play your gamblingentertainment allotment

Pick your casino

Choose your own numbers

Play with friends as a group

Play video keno

Play online keno

Set limits of losing or goals whenwinning

Use your intuition or rely strictly onstrategies you have established for yourself

And on and on

When you play keno, you get to make the decisions that most affect youroutcome. The only thing that you cant affect is which numbers willcome up. But when playing keno you can be assured that the casinoor other players dont know which numbers will come up either.

So I believe your random odds are at least as goodor better than playing a computerized slot machine, which may notbe programmed fairly or loosely, or a roulette table which may ormay not be mechanically sound.

Computer programmers set the win and losepatterns on slot machines and winning requires you to be sitting ata particular machine when the computer program determines a winningpattern will appear. (And to be very opinionated, it is not wise toplay online gambling games for money, whether cards, slots, roulette or whatever. It is also illegal in the U.S.)

Not so with keno play where the numbers youplay can be picked by you.

There are never any guarantees when you playkeno, but you can increase your chances with a few helpfulsuggestions.

You have to play the game to win thegame.

Playing a ticket is your first step.

Play regularly but spend money on keno inmoderation.

Use care in selecting your numbers.

Make sure you understand which numbers comeup frequently and how you may limit yourself by using birthdays oranniversaries.

You may decide to use random numbergenerators or keno software to select your numbers. These toolsproduce statistically selected numbers based on known kenoresults.

The number 7 tends to appear often in thekeno. Consider using this number and multiples of it.

SECTION TWO

What Its All About

So whats all the fuss about playing keno?It seems that everyone is playing it now, either in groups orindividually and we seem to hear about more and more people winningsubstantial jackpots.

Well, the big deal is that keno can be fun to playand you have a chance to win money if you learn the game well andplay wisely. Playing keno is one of the easiest games to learn andto play. The game can be played for fun or for profit.

Keno is said to have originated in China, but theword keno has French or Latin roots. The game was introduced tothe rest of the world when Chinese immigrants migrated from theirhomes and eventually came to the United States as workers on theTranscontinental Railroad in the 19th century.

Keno is a gambling game that is now played aroundthe world in most casinos. Traditionally a live keno game has useda circular container, called a bubble, to randomly pick winningnumbers from a choice of 80 balls. (Some casinos now select thewinning numbers electronically.)

On each of the balls a number is printed. During theball draw, a blower pushes air into the bubble to mix up the balls.A casino employee, known as a caller, presses a lever that opens atube. The balls lift one at a time into the tube called the rabbitears because of its V shape. The caller and a verifier recordeach of 20 drawn balls. The numbers are then entered into acomputer, which calculates the wagers made by players against thenumbers that were drawn. In modern times other methods may be usedinstead of the rabbit ear blower method or hand cage method(whereby the winning numbers are validated by a person). Nowadayssome casinos use an automated blower (where the balls are encodedand are read by a computer) or a random number generator.

Keno players make their bets by marking a number ofthe spots on a blank keno ticket. There are 80 numbers to chosefrom (1-80). In some casinos the ball draw is conducted at settimed intervals without regard to whether or not players wagershave all been completed for that round.
