I t is Peter Childs welcoming you on board. Since drawing is often the first effective way for children to communicate with the outside world, having this resource available will help your child express needs, wants, and emotions more efficiently. I will describe how to draw a Dog as an example. The remaining examples will be the graphical step by step representation of the same basic principle. Dogs are the most common pet in the world. They are pretty fun to draw, too. Drawing a dog in motion , jumping or running in the yard is much difficult.

Hence, I have selected a dog that is sitting still. The final image will look like this

I will show you how to draw a simple dog with simple shapes and color it. With a simple tweak in the technique, your children can start to draw cuter looking dogs right now. If you own a dog, please start by calling it in the room and tell it to sit still facing your child. Or you can search Google to come up with a cute dog sitting. Tell your children to watch closely.

So, what is the basic shape and composition of a dog? They have a round or long head , hanging ears, fluffy hair, medium to long legs and mostly a curly tail. They come up with all sizes, shapes and colors , of course. All you need is an HB pencil, rubber, paper, pencil sharpener, a cotton bud and a photo/video of a Dog ( or the real one!)

W e will try to draw the dog with basic shapes with circle, ellipse and simple round curves. First draw a circle in free hand. It need not to be a perfect one. D raw an ellipse that will be the mouth.

Then draw two more elliptical shapes hanging from both sides of the head. These will be the two ears. Stretch the ears just a little bit longer than the bottom of the head.
