Shine Brighter Every Day is a way of thinking, a mindset. It is not a diet. Danah Mor has created an easy-to-follow, no-nonsense guide that combines scientific and holistic advice to allow you to become your own food doctor, creating an achievable, sustainable plan that is completely personal to you.
Our relationship with food is changing. Fad diets and clean eating is out and people have abandoned the search for a quick fix in favour of a heightened understanding of the importance of balance, both in their diets and their lives as a whole. In this book, qualified nutritionist and Ayurvedic practitioner, Danah Mor, gives readers all the information they need to adopt a positive, pragmatic mindset that banishes guilt and reframes their relationship with food in a sustainable and realistic way.
Readers are introduced to a new perspective on food that helps them understand why they are attracted to certain foods. It shows them how non-physical nourishment is more powerful and important than physical food. Readers are given a chance to reconstruct new relationships with food, where their search and need for certain foods will naturally change and evolve into better choices over time.
While many nutritionists bombard readers with lists about what to eat and what not to eat, Danah guides you back to basics. The book is structured into thirteen chapters, each one aimed at increasing your understanding of a specific aspect of health and wellbeing. As a whole, the book will allow you to recognise and plug the holes in your own knowledge and become your own boss and food doctor, ultimately equipping you with tools to fix your relationship with food and live a healthier and happier life.

INTRODUCTION If we knew how amazing our bodies were designed to feel we - photo 3

INTRODUCTION

If we knew how amazing our bodies were designed to feel, we wouldnt think twice about our choices.

How do you explain to someone driving a car from 1970 that the ride doesnt have to be uncomfortable, smell like petrol, or constantly break down? Its likely theyre just happy their car gets them around. And even if it doesnt cost much to get it fixed, they will take some persuading to change to a newer model!

Most of us have become accustomed to disease, pain and discomfort in our bodies and minds. We are happy enough to have a body that simply gets us around, rather than making an effort to see how we could improve things for ourselves. Sometimes, even, we dont want to leave our comfort zone of discomfort and disease; we prefer not to know and just stick with the disease.

This book is about improving your quality of life, preventing disease, and manifesting the best version of yourself. It unlocks a lifestyle, a way of thinking a state of being that is in tune with your body, inspired by the unwritten laws of nature, cutting-edge modern nutrition science, the ancient wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine and my own personal experience.

Im urging you to have the courage to be interested and try a few little steps to see how your body responds and thanks you.

You can only feel as good as you think you can.

When I was around thirteen, I lost a large portion of my vision, and this has given me a new perspective on life. Ultimately, it has shown me how many things are possible. Life is what you make of it. Its not what you have its what you make of what you have. I cant change my condition. But by perceiving my condition in a different way, I was able to overcome bigger barriers than most of us can imagine and as a result build a life that I love living. I did this by not focusing on my problem and what I couldnt see, but rather focusing on what I could see. And I realized that I actually see much more than many people. I realized just because we have ears, it doesnt mean we listen, and just because we have eyesight, it doesnt mean we look. The curiosity to look without projecting an illusion is harder than I ever imagined. Looking without expectation, with courage to see the truth, is one of the hardest things I have come to learn. Your willingness is your biggest asset; wanting to be or do anything is the beginning of truly becoming the driver of your own life.

VITALITY IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT

When it comes to our health, there is a lot of confusion and conflicting advice. What is vitality? What does it mean to be healthy?

How would you like to have the strength, courage and the capacity to mentally and physically live life to its fullest potential? What does this mean to you? Most of us dont really connect to what vitality really means to us on a physical and mental level. Here are some ideas: to travel and live with ease, with no allergies, no stomach pains, no skin issues. To go swimming in the sea, go skiing or out dancing always feeling strong and secure in body and mind. To run your business with energy and passion, to think without brain fog. To be able to run around with your children, nephews or grandchildren without pain or fatigue! To have strong, shiny hair, smooth, glowing skin and a resilient body. To feel confident from the inside out, at home in your own body. To feel satisfied and at peace with your life and your achievements. These are all signs of health and vitality.

Without health and vitality we start to lose out on life.

Believe it or not, vitality is our natural state. But I doubt many of us wake up and spring out of bed ready to seize the day! What has happened?

NATURE IS PERFECT

Nature is perfect by design and works in perfect balance. We are surrounded by everything we need. Water is filtered through the clouds and mineralized in the ground. Seeds are spread by the wind and feathers, sprouted by the rain to provide food for our consumption. Clean water, fresh air, nutritious delicious food and sunshine we have it all; and then we have intuition and instinct that help guide us.

We live in an era where the main drive is profit. Unfortunately, this has changed the world for all of us. The choices that governments make regarding health, food regulations and safety are not for the good of our health, but the profit and success of business. This means that we can no longer trust the foods or other products on our supermarket shelves.
