About the Book

THESE ARE THE TRUE AND UNCENSORED ACCOUNTS OF AUSTRALIAS HARDEST INMATES, FROM AUSTRALIAS HARDEST INMATES.

Martin Bryant who killed 35 people and injured another 23 at Port Arthur in 1996 is a 160kg slob who trades sex for chocolate in Risdon Prison. Twenty years after Australias worst massacre, his blond hair is gone, and so is his self-righteous smirk but he is as evil as ever, showing no remorse for the crimes that shook the nation. He is just one of the killers in the rogues gallery of Australias Toughest Prisons: Inmates .

You will meet the alleged hitman and undisputed hardman called Goldie, feared by both prisoners and guards alike. John Reginald Killick will tell you how he really escaped from Silverwater Jail in a helicopter and survived Pentridge Prisons notorious Hell Block. And former Rugby League star Craig Field will tell you his incredible story of how one wrong pub punch landed him in prison limbo.

From the rise of ISIS gangs, the lethal underground drug and tobacco trade, and the threat of contraband phones, to shiv fights, brawls and white-collar criminal beat-downs, the secret lives of Australias most dangerous men will be on full display.

Award-winning author and journalist James Phelps reveals the horror of life inside Australias most notorious prisons.

The Inmate Code

DOG and die.

Everyone knows you cant DOG [give information to police about another criminal], said a man who spent more than half his life in jail for murder. This is the most important rule. But this isnt one of the rules you need to be told. Its a street rule and its a prison rule. You never give anyone up. And if you do, then you will be got.

GOT means dead.

Got? continued the former inmate. That means dead. On the street it could mean youre going to get bashed or whatever, but in prison it means you are going to get killed. If you hear word that someone is after you, well, you better kill them before they kill you. Theres no mucking around. People dont want to hurt you in prison. They want to kill you. You dont want to win a fight and then get shivved in the back the next week, month or year. You want to kill them so they dont ever get the chance.

STICK to your own.

It is forbidden to speak to someone from another race. In fact, in some jails you will get bashed by your own if you dont attack someone from another race when you get the chance. Polynesians and Asians stick together. They have their own wing in most jails. They are also allowed to stick with Aussies [Anglo-Saxons]. The Lebanese [men with Middle Eastern heritage] and the Aboriginals team up and have their own wings. There is a constant war between the two groups. It doesnt matter if a Lebo and a Poly were mates on the outside on the inside theyre enemies.

KNOW the chain of command.

You need to know whos in charge of your wing. And you need permission off them to do anything. There are stages and rankings in each race. There is a boss, then his right-hand man, and then it goes down the chain. You cant start something unless you have permission from the corporals, captains and lieutenants.

DONT ask for protection.

Youre a marked man if you ask to go into a protection wing. You are suspected of either being a DOG, a rock spider [paedophile] or someone who has committed crimes against women. Even if you havent, if you are just weak and scared, you will be killed if anyone gets to you after youve asked for protection.

Got all that? Good. Time to go inside. Youll be right I promise.

INTRODUCING THE INMATES

Warning: the following material is sexually explicit and highly graphic.

Porky Pig

The 150kg pig sucked and slurped. His knees touching the cold concrete floor, he gulped and, occasionally, he gagged the mass-murdering monster was unable to take the full thrust of what was being forced into his face.

Crack!

The cell door suddenly swung open.

You fucking sicko! the prison officer screamed, so disgusted he wanted to spew.

Martin Bryant spat out the penis. A little stunned maybe even shocked but certainly not sorry.

He didnt care as long as he got his chocolate.

I walked in on him once, said the Risdon Prison officer who witnessed Australias worst-ever killer sucking another inmates penis in Tasmanians most notorious jail.

Its something Ill never forget, no matter how hard I try Bryant giving a bloke a head-job in a cell. We knew he was a cat, who often performed sex acts on fellow inmates, but seeing was worse than knowing.

Martin John Bryant, now almost 50, is a fat, bald sexual deviant dubbed Porky Pig. He looks nothing like the pale, long-haired skeleton who killed 35 innocent people and injured another 23 in one of the worlds worst shooting sprees. Bryant pulled out a Colt AR15 SPI semi-automatic and killed David and Sally Smith on 28 April 1996 before going on a rampage that would see 78 people shot in what became known as the Port Arthur Massacre.

He now sucks cock for treats.

He would perform sexual services for payment, confirmed former senior Risdon corrections officer Tony Burley. I think it was mainly head-jobs, but he did other things too, Im sure. He had plenty of opportunities to do it when he was locked away in the old prison hospital at Risdon. Hed be able to give a bloke a head-job in a yard, in a cell, in a laundry or at a toilet. He did it in most of those places.

Bryant, an almost anonymous prisoner despite committing the crime that changed a young nation, spends his days sleeping and taking lonesome strolls around the yard.

Oh yeah and doling out sexual favours.

Theres no doubt hes not right in the head, said Burley, now retired. And the blokes who pay him for sex and head-jobs suffer from mental problems too. He was pretty infamous for these acts before the new prison was built and he was moved. We are talking from about 2000 to 2006.

Bryants preferred payment for prostituting himself was chocolate.

He would do it for chocolate, or whatever else they had, Burley continued. He loved chocolate.

Bryants weight fluctuates between 130 and 160kg, according to officers who guard the madman.

Maybe it depends on how much chocolate he can get his hands on?

The officers called him Porky Pig on the account of his size, Burley said. I reckon he gets a fair bit of chocolate.

Sad. Thats how Burley described Bryants existence. Hes the sort of bloke who doesnt really demand a lot of attention from the officers or raise too many alarms. Hes fairly compliant and not considered dangerous. He would be at the bottom of the chain when it comes to dangerous prisoners or those who need observation and management.

He has no hobbies and no jobs. He pretty much gets out of bed in the morning, wanders around by himself for a while, and then goes back to bed again.

And he eats chocolate.

Bryant isnt the only sick, sad and disgusting sex fiend you are about to meet. Unfortunately, you will hear more about Bryant soon

Gary Murphy, one of the men involved in the gruesome killing of Anita Cobby, might just be worse.

And he didnt even do it for chocolate

I was doing a few months at Parramatta back in the day, a former inmate, who asked to remain anonymous, recalled. I was sent there for something quite minor it might have been traffic offences. I would go back for much more serious things later.
