In the Beginning...
In the beginning there was Texas.

We know this because the Bible says the Garden of Eden was a paradise. And any Texan worth his or her salsa knows Texas is paradise. And even if it's not, we're not going to tell anybody else.
There is also archaeological evidence to support the claim that the Garden of Eden was in Texas. My friend and neighbor Virgil Pflump, proprietor of Pflump's College of Archaeological Knowledge and Catfish Bait Shop is the one who dug it up, while excavating for worms.
Based on that evidence, it just stands to reason that the stories and myths about Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden need to be revised to fit the assumption that Adam was a Good Ol' Boy. As such, we can pretty well deduce his attitude and behavior patterns.

Just picture Adam, the first Good Ol' Boy, back there that first day. He had just been molded out of a mud spitball. He had the whole world to himself, to do anything he wanted. He could hunt possum. Or he could play mumblety-peg. He could do anything he took a notion to do, and not worry

about getting interrupted by someone who wanted him to take out the garbage.
You can imagine Adam on that first Friday night the world had ever seen, getting all spruced up to step out and paint the Garden red.
I can see and hear him now, humming a Willie Nelson tune, because he couldn't remember all the words. He puts some spit on his cowlick to make it slick down. Pops a couple of cloves in his mouth to make his breath sweet, shuffling his feet to a country beat.
The only trouble with this scene is that when he gets to this point, that's the highlight of his evening. On that first Friday night, getting ready to go out was the best thing that was liable to happen to him. There was nowhere to go. And if there had been, there was nobody to go with.
