Introduction
In this book youll find crochet patterns for nineteen of the most loveable animals youll ever create. Unlike others you may have made in the past, these generously sized stuffed animals are truly huggable, measuring from twelve to eighteen inches (thirty to forty-six centimeters) tall.
As you make these projects, I invite you to come on a magical tour of the animal kingdom with me. Inside youll find animals from all over the world. You are sure to find a cuddly friend that you just cant live without.
Animal lovers of all ages will enjoy these charming creatures. Yours might become the perfect accent piece on the sofa of a themed room. If you have little ones running around, they make the perfect gift for children to snuggle with at night. For this reason, youll find no choking hazards such as buttons or wire in the patterns.
Each animal appears in two different color palettesone more realistic, the other whimsicalalthough they will look adorable in whatever colors you choose. Ive created names and background stories for each of the animals here for an extra element of fun. However, the ones you make will be unique and have their own personalities, so give them their own names, backgrounds and maybe even a homemade birth certificate.
I think that crocheting should be fun and relaxing. So, while designing these patterns, I tried to use only the simplest stitches, which are explained and shown step by step. Whether youre eight years old or eighty, theres no better feeling than seeing the smile of a loved one when you give them a handmade gift.
Now, go ahead, take a peek insidethey wont bite!
CHAPTER 1
The Pranksters:
Forest Critters
Each ecosystem has its own mischievous inhabitants, but the critters in this forest take mayhem to a whole new level. The squirrel thrives on snatching your food and watching you hunt for it, while the sneaky snake likes to give you a scare. The fun-loving snail and raccoon enjoy playing harmless mind games with their friends. Whatever these tricksters are up to, you can almost always count on them catching you off guard. So, brace yourself and stay sharp as you stroll through their territory!
Sly the Snake
Sly is the sneakiest of all the pranksters. He loves nothing more than to scare the living daylights out of anyone who crosses his path. Slithering along tree branches until an unsuspecting soul comes along, he then shoots out like a lightning bolt with a hiss. Startled for a second, everyone soon realizes that its just Sly up to his same old tricks, while he slithers away and has a good, hearty laugh over a prank well played.
