Tobias and the Angel

Angel
Tobias

Dog
Tobias and the Angel is an altarpiece painted by thecollective effort of the students and masters of the Verrocchio's Workshoparound 1470-1475. Andrea del Verrocchio was a talented painter from Renaissanceera, who had the honor of being Leonardo da Vinci's teacher. The painting iscurrently housed in National Gallery, London.
Some art historians state that, Leonardo may have paintedthe dog walking next to the angel as well as the fish held by Tobias. Indeed,if it is true, it makes Tobias and the Angel the first example of a paintingwith input by Leonardo da Vinci.
Madonna and Child with a Pomegranate

Madonna and theChild

Background
The painting was previously attributed to Verrocchioor Lorenzo di Credi. Altough some historians attribute this beautiful pantingto Leonardo; some thinks the anatomy of the baby is so poor to be attributed toLeonardo da Vinci. Leonardo showed intense attention to anatomy in hispaintings, almost medical.
This why art historians such as Shearman and Morelliattribute the work to Verrocchio.
Madonna of the Carnation

Madonna with theChild

Background
The Madonna of the Carnation, also called Madonna with Vaseor Madonna with the Child is a painting finished by Leonardo da Vinci around1478-1480. It is currently displayed at the Alte Pinakothek gallery in Munich,Germany.
In this painting, Leonardo chose to focus on Madonna andChrist Child who is sitting on her lap. Virgin Mary is depicted wearingprecious jewellery and clothes. She is holding a carnation (a healing symbol)on her left hand. The faces of the center figures are illuminated by lightwhile the background and other objects such as the carnation appear darker.
No matter how close they look, the mother and the child doesnot keep eye contact. Madonna is looking at the carnation she is holding in herhand while the Christ Child is staring to the right of the painting.
The main figures of this painting are sitting in a room withtwo windows on each side of the figures.
The painting was originally attributed to Verocchio by theart histiorians; however, further inspections revealed that the painting wasactually a work of Leonardo da Vinci.
The Baptism of Christ

The Baptism

Angels

"ECCE - AGNIVS-"
The Baptism of Christ was painted by Verocchio, with thehelp of his student, Leonardo da Vinci in Verrocchio's workshop sometime around1475. However, some art historians claim more students of Verrocchio helpedpainting this painting, showing the distinct brush strokes of those students asproof.
In the scene; Leonardo da Vinci and his master depicted the Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist asrecorded in the Biblical Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. The angel to the left is recorded as having been painted by the youthfulLeonardo, a fact which has excited so much special comment and mythology, thatthe importance and value of the picture as a whole is often overlooked. Modern critics also attribute much of the landscapein the background and the figure of Christ to Leonardo da Vinci as well.(Leonardo is famous for giving extreme attention to the detail of backgroundsin his paintings.)
According to Antonio Billi; The Baptism of the Christ wascommissioned by the Church of S. Salvi and was later transferred to theVallumbrosan Sisterhood in Santa Verdiana. The work was also discussedin Giorgio Vasari's Lives of the Painters in thebiographies of both Verrocchio and Leonardo da Vinci.
The painting is no doubt a beautiful one, but one shouldappreciate Leonardo's efforts more because he painted as well as his master intheir collective efforts. Leonardo's brush strokes were the real things whichgave life to this painting.
