KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Trumps intention to run as a Republican Presidential candidate is treated as a joke.
  • Public records show that Trump favors anti-republican views.
  • Trump considers advice to set his records right but he is not taken seriously.

A s a producer, Steve Bannon focused on making films that were rightist, negating the views of the US democrats especially Bill and Hilary Clintons. It was August in 2010. He got a call from his major client, David Bossie who informed him of Donald Trumps intention to run for presidency. David Bossie himself, was dedicated to digging out every skeleton the Clintons had hidden in their drawers. For several years, he had not backed down. He was therefore in favour of views and policies that negated that of the Clintons and everything they stand for.

Busy with the films he was producing for Bossie, Bannon told the conventional activist to quit kidding around. Steve Bannon thought Bossies information hilarious as would many few years later.

His impression of Trump was that the entertainment business tycoon was someone who never took things seriously. He recalled the interview he had with the mogul and TV superstar on his radio show. The experience made him seem convinced that Trump was nothing but a joke to think he could contest against Barack Obama and win.

However, Bossie insisted that they meet with Trump the next day at New York if Bannon was available. He explained that he had been meeting the aspirant for months and he seemed very intent. He further encouraged that no harm could come from a chat with the one of Americas biggest entrepreneur. Steve Bannon agreed but was still much persuaded that Trumps decision was a delusion.

The meeting lasted for hours and it was very obvious that Donald Trump knew a lot about doing business but could hardly navigate his way in the political terrain. David Bossie advised him that if he was ever going to run for presidency under the Republican Party, he needed to clean up his old record by making new ones.

Those records showed that Trump had a larger support for leftist views and policies than conservative ones. Some of which included his support for abortion rights, his financial donations to politics which tended to favor the democrats more, and his apathy to voting in primaries except the one time he voted for Rudy Giuliani in 1989.

Steve Bannon explained that if Trump claimed to be in support of the Tea Party which Bossie stood for, he needed to show his disgust for elitism and its rigged systems. That meant that he was against insider trading and supported the common man.

Trump tried to argue about the facts presented. He claimed to have voted every time, and that hid donations to the leftist was induced because it was the only way he could establish his business in particular areas. He had to grease palms to get work done. Bossie however pointed that the proofs were public and obvious to the eyes. Trump promised to get the records sorted out. As for his opinions on abortions, he was totally against it and chose life.

Having said that, David Bossie recommended some ways he could start afresh and prove it. First, he needed to be conventional in his views. Conservatism transcended party. Trumps opinions must hint that he was completely conformist.

The Republican also advised that Trump started his political career by trying to contest as a governor in at least three states: Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire. If he was able to establish in presence in such states, it would be easier in other states.

Bossie further suggested that Trump should start making allies and building relationships among the Republican legislators through financial donations for their campaigns. Bossie stressed that money was essential to top politics. And if Trump could focus on republican candidates in states with tough competition like Ohio, Virginia and the likes, he would do well. Bossie counseled Trump to be ready to give out individual checks worth a total of $250,000 to $500,000 if he wanted to succeed in building allies that will support him.
