For my Child in Heaven
And my Children on Earth
You will embark, he said, on a fair sea,
and at times there will be fair weather,
But not always
You will take it in turns to steer
your boat through fair weather and foul.
Never lose courage.

Acknowledgments
S pecial thanks to Angela Wix, my acquisitions editor, who pulled my unsolicited manuscript out of the pile, and took a chance on me. Thank you not only for your insight but for the excellence of your editing, your professionalism, and your sensitivity.
My profound thanks go to my friend Cindy McEnry who gave me her insight, comfort, and encouragement and made me laugh out loud when I could barely smile. To Katharine Spencer McEnry who inspired me, and to Gail Meltzer who listened and spent hours reading and editing the contents of this book and filled me with confidence.
Special thanks to Drews friend Sara Bobbitt who taught me to speak computer-eze, helped me with photographs, many of which she took, and with the final layout and submission. To Brittany Bennefield, Mark DeTournillon, Ashley Werner, and Sara, close friends of Drews, for sharing their dreams and memories with me. To Tory Lakey who did the same, and to Clay Cowgill, Drews childhood friend who gets it.
My love and my appreciation to Karen Brock Kelley, Michael and Mary Katherine Brock, Becca Kelley, Toni Le Grand, and Kellie Anne Upton who shared their dreams, their humor and their memories, and to Randy Kelley who gave us his support when we needed it.
Grateful thanks go to my readers who were kind enough to read the book with its success in mind. Their constructive criticism, thoughtful insights, advice, and recommendations were greatly appreciated, and many of them were used in the book. They are Michael Brock, Leigh Fox, Joy Goryn, Courtney Kelley, Cindy McEnry, Katharine McEnry, Gail Meltzer, and Cathy Winstead.
To Michael Fragnito, publishing veteran and friend who read an early draft, gave me valuable advice, and encouraged me to keep going; my grateful thanks.
To Patrick Mathews who understands the spirit world better than most. Author, intuitive, and talented medium, he spoke to Drew with me one afternoon: Thank you for your insightful and thoughtful foreword to this book.
To the Earth Angels: Pat Kiefer, Debbie Spencer, Toni Seidelman, Linda Wickert, and Regina Jensen who have made this journey, and walk beside me on mine. There were many angels on this trail, too many to name here, but they know who they are, and so do I.
And to Drew, who was with me every step of the way through the darkness of the deepest night and into the dawn, urging me to write it all down and share it in By Mornings Light . My eternal love and thanks.
Foreword
Patrick Mathews
A s a medium, I feel blessed in being able to help people by connecting them with their loved ones in spirit. My main goal in doing so is to not only prove to them that there is life after life for their loved ones who have passed, but for them to also understand that those in spirit will always continue to be a part of their lives.
Once a person breaks down the self-barrier they create after the passing of a loved one, another connection can be made and with that, the continuation of the relationship with a loved one in spirit will transpire.
There are many ways spirits will make their presence known, each depending on the situation of their loved ones here as well as their own abilities as spirits.
I am sure that any person in spirit would like nothing better than to be able to just appear to loved ones here and say, Hi, here I am! I am still very much alive and well and I will always be with you. But that is just not how this classroom we call life was designed.
This is why spirits are able to only give certain specific signs to their loved ones here, as they do not want to interfere with the spiritual growth their loved ones are destined to have. And these signs and connections can come in many forms, each specific to that individuals wants and needs.
