TINY DIN OSAURS Archaeopt ery x is the original missing link betw een di nosaurs and b irds. It ha s som e ch aracteristics of bi rds, such as fe athers, a wishbone, and wings, whi le st ill h aving some dinosaur qua lities: teeth, three-clawe d han ds, a nd a bony tail. The s pecimens of Archaeopt ery x have ma inly been found in t he Solnho fen Limest one of Bavaria, Germany.
This limestone is very smooth and ne-grained, maki ng it pos sible for ve ry detailed fossi ls to be p reserve d. Archaeopt ery x had fou r cl aws on its feet, thr ee f acing f orwa rd a nd o ne ba ckward. The fe athers are designed for ight, but Archaeopt ery x could o nly y for ver y short peri ods o f ti me.
