Wake up! It is
pancake week. We eat blini. We drink hot tea. Boris likes warm kasha. We dress up. We dress up.

We go to the festival.

What does Olga buy? A stack of blini. Yum! In Russia, lunch
is the big meal. Papa grills shashlik. It smells good. Klara eats borscht.

It is a beet soup. She has it with
dark bread.

It is time
for dinner. Mama makes
pelmeni. They are little dumplings. fish eggs We eat fish. fish eggs We eat fish.

Ivan likes fish eggs. He puts them on blini!

What is for dessert? Cheese pancakes. We can eat more
pancakes tomorrow! Make Russian pancakes! Be sure to get an adult to help. Ingredients: 2 eggs 1 tablespoon white sugar teaspoon salt cup all-purpose flour 2 cups milk 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 tablespoon butter Directions: In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, and salt. Sift the flour into the bowl. Stir in the milk.
Mix until the batter is thin.

Heat a griddle over medium heat. Lightly oil the griddle. Pour 2 tablespoons of batter into the pan. Tilt the pan
to spread the batter. When the edges look crisp and the center looks dry,
slide a spatula under the blini. Flip and cook on the other side until lightly browned.
