More than just a great museum, the Borghese Gallery is a beautiful villa set in the greenery of surrounding gardens. You get to see art commissioned by the luxury-loving Borghese family displayed in the very rooms for which it was created. Frescoes, marble, stucco, and interior design enhance the masterpieces. This is a place whereregardless of whether you learn a darn thingyou can sit back and enjoy the sheer beauty of the palace and its art.

Cost: 8.50, or 12.50 during special exhibits; both prices include basic 2 reservation fee (see Reservations below). Credit cards are accepted.
Hours: Tue-Sun 9:00-19:00, closed Mon, ticket office closes one hour before museum.
Reservations: Reservations are mandatory and simple to get. Its easiest by booking online ( www.ticketeria.it , 1 extra booking fee, user-friendly website). You can also reserve by telephone (tel. 06-32810, all operators speak English, pay for tickets on arrival), but its not always easy to reach a live operator. Call during Italian office hours: Mon-Fri 9:00-18:00, Sat 9:00-13: 00, office closed Sat in Aug and Sun year-round. If you reach an Italian recording, wait for the English translation.
Every two hours, 360 people are allowed to enter the museum. Entry times are 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, and 17:00. Reserve a minimum of several days in advance for a weekday visit, and at least a week ahead for weekends. Reservations are tightest at 11:00 and 15:00, on Tuesdays, and on weekends. For off-season weekdays (but not weekends), your chances of getting a same-day reservation are fairly high if youre flexible about the entry time.
After you reserve a day and time, youll get a claim number. Be at the Borghese Gallery 30 minutes before your appointed time to pick up your ticket in the lobby on the lower level. You can skip the ticket pickup line by paying with a credit card at one of the computer kiosks.
You can use a Roma Pass for entry, but you still need to make a reservation (by phone onlynot online) and pay the 2 fee. If you dont have a reservation, you can try arriving near the top of the hour, when the museum sells unclaimed tickets to those standing by. Generally, out of 360 reservations, a few will fail to show (but more than a few may be waiting to grab them). Youre most likely to land a stand-by ticket at 13:00 or 17:00.
