How else could we explain our willingness to ask a

physicist whether Scrooge McDuck could indeed take

a dive into a swimming pool full of gold coins on

DuckTales ? (He couldntat least not without breaking

several bones, and thats a best-case scenario.) Or why

wed take the trouble to bother an ornithologist and

paleontologist to discuss whether Daenerys Targaryens

dragons on Game of Thrones could really fly?

To some, our interest in entertainment could be

considered fanatical. But great television has a tendency

to do that. Especially since the medium has progressed

so far beyond its days as the boob tubeso much, in

fact, that you dont even need an actual television at all

to enjoy its many diversions. Thats just one of the ways

Mental Floss has watched the TV landscape change

over the past two decades. Sure, the physical appliance

itself has become sleeker and cheaper while the imagery
