Row 1: With wrong side of Bottom facing you, working this row in front lps only, join black with sc in 10th st from corner on one 43-sc edge (see illustration), sc in each st around, ending in 10th st after corner on opposite end of same edge, turn. (161 sts made)

Rows 212: Repeat rows 313 of Bottom.

Rows 1383: Repeat rows 213 of Bottom consecutively, ending with row 12.

Row 84: Ch 1, sc in each st across; working in ends of rows, 2 sc in first row, evenly spacing sts so piece lies flat, sc across rows, sl st in next unworked st of row 32 on Bottom. Fasten off.

To work lps off hook, yo, pull through one lp on hook (see il-lustration a), (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) across leaving one lp on hook at end of row (see illustration b).

For afghan stitch (afghan st), skip first vertical bar, *insert hook under next vertical bar (see illustration c), yo, pull lp through; repeat from * across to last vertical bar; for last st, insert hook under last vertical bar and in st directly behind it (see illustration d), yo, pull lp through; work lps off hook.

For twist st(see illustration), insert hook from left to right through next vertical bar (see arrow on illustration), yo, pull through vertical bar.
