FADE IN: EXT.
NORWICH -DAY A taxi travelsswiftly through the streets of Norwich, along Prince of Wales Road,Rose Lane, Cattlemarket Street, Westlegate, St Stephens Street, andChapelfield Road. It stops at the traffic lights on Grapes Hill,before eventually moving along Dereham Road. CUT TO: INT. TAXI -DAY OLIVER BELL - a young manin his early twenties - sits in the back of the taxi, which hasstopped because of traffic. Oliver winds down a window to look outand ahead to see the reason for the hold-up. He then looks out ofthe window and across to the other side of the road.
Somethingimmediately catches his eye. Fade TO: Black screen: SUPER: "Five NightsEarlier" Fade In: BEGIN DREAMSEQUENCE: EXT. STREET -DAY Oliver walks down hisdriveway onto the pavement, turns left and continues to walk alongthe street. As he walks, he looks down to his left at the dewglistening on the grass. CUT TO: INT. SHOP -DAY Oliver grabs two bottlesof Absinthe from a shelf.
CUT TO: EXT. SHOP -DAY Oliver walks out of theshop carrying one absinthe bottle in each hand. He walks for ashort distance before stopping quite suddenly. He looks atsomething in the distance. The sound of the two absinthe bottlessmashing on the ground is heard. CUT TO: EXT.
STREET -DAY Oliver runs quicklytowards what he has seen. Lying on the ground in a pool of blood is- JOHNNY YOUNGBLOOD - a seventeen year old boy. Oliver crouchesdown next to him. OLIVER Jesus, Johnny! JOHNNY You're already too latemy friend OLIVER No, no... I am sosorry JOHNNY Its not your fault...Look... Just do me a favour and go to that house willyer.
Johnny points to a verylarge house, which is painted entirely black except for its brightred front door OLIVER I can get helpthere! (He runs off and shoutsback) I'LL SEE YOUSOON JOHNNY I dont doubt itmate CUT TO: EXT. BLACK HOUSE -DAY Oliver runs to the redfront door of the house, pushes it open, and walksinside. CUT TO: INT. BLACK HOUSE -DAY Oliver begins to walkslowly along a dark hallway. Several moments pass as he walks andit becomes obvious that the hallway is extremely long and that ithas no windows or doors. (A beat as he looksaround) A door anywhere in thisplace? Oliver looks all the wayup and down the corridor, which is, aside from its size and thetattered wallpaper hanging from the walls, almost featureless. Hebegins to walk again, slightly faster than before. OLIVER Hello? He continues walking forseveral seconds and then he trips over something on the ground. Hedoes not get up and instead feels for what made him fall. He findsthat on the ground in the middle of the hallway is a single blackdoor. Oliver stands again for several seconds looking at the door.He bends down to the door and, taking hold of the handle, he pullsit open and folds it out onto the floor. He stands again forseveral moments staring at the open doorway.
Finally, he shrugs hisshoulders, walks forward and places one foot into and through thedoorway. CUT TO: EXT. MULTI-STOREY CARPARK - EVENING Oliver hits the groundwith a thump. He picks himself up, dusts himself off and looks upto the sky. EMILY - a young woman in her twenties - thenimmediately runs past, grabbing his hand and pulling him alongafter her. EMILY
(Running and
slightly out
of breath) You've got to helpme! OLIVER What? EMILY You've got to saveme! OLIVER Where are wegoing? EMILY Up there.
She points up at theupper floors of the car park but continues to run, dragging Oliverwith her, until she knocks straight into and through the door whichleads into the car park. CUT TO: INT. MULTI-STOREY CARPARK - EVENING OLIVER
(Still running) What the hell is goingon? EMILY
(A beat or
two as she
slows and
then stops
running before
turning to
face him) Trust me. And will youhide with me please? OLIVER I cant Emily looks at himlongingly. She grabs his hand with both of hers. He looks down ather hands on his before looking up at her face.
CUT TO: INT. MULTI-STOREY CARPARK - NIGHT Oliver and Emily lie nextto each other under a car. OLIVER
(Turning his head
towards Emily) What exactly are we doinghere? EMILY Shh... (Whispering) We're hiding OLIVER
(Whispering) Yes... But whofrom? EMILY
(A beat) Demons (A beat ortwo) It doesnt look like theyknow were here Both Oliver and Emilyslide out from opposite sides of the car. She walks behind the carto stand next to him.
At that moment another car can be heardcoming from a lower level of the car park. They both turn towardswhere the noise is coming from. The next thing they see is a blackcar that is driven up from the lower levels of the car park, whichcomes to a stop in front of them. The driver of the car - JIMBRADY, a boy in his late teens with short dark hair - gets up andout of the car to lean over the car door and look directly atOliver. Oliver is shocked and surprised to see him. OLIVER
(To Emily) RUN! Oliver grabs Emilys handand runs up an incline.
As they get to the next level of the carpark, Oliver, still holding Emilys hand, looks back down towardsthe black car, which is still on the level below them. He turnsaway and looks around again. When he sees something ahead of him,he stops. OLIVER
(Pointingforward) THERE! Ahead of the two of themis a red door. He pulls Emily toward it. EMILY Whats going on? Thatwasn't there before OLIVER Trust me...
And will youhide with me please? Emily smiles at Oliver.They then walk on, open the door and step through it. CUT TO: EXT. CATHEDRAL GROUNDS -DAY Oliver and Emily sit on agrass lawn. Oliver looks around and sees a large statue of AdmiralNelson. He then looks upwards, taking in the sheer size and scaleof the Cathedral. EMILY
(To Oliver) Thank you forthat Oliver moves his gazedown from looking at the cathedral and looks over his shoulder.This time he sees a large statue of the Duke of Wellington.
Heturns back towards Emily. OLIVER Where are wenow? EMILY
(Pointing around
herself) Well, thats acathedral, thats a statue of Admiral Nelson, thats another of theDuke of Wellington and this is the city I live in. (A beat) The rest is up to you tofind out She smiles athim. OLIVER What? But who are you?What's your name? EMILY Thats reallytwo different questions... And the second ones a bit easier toanswer. Im...
As Oliver looks at her,her face fades to white. Her lips move but he doesn't hear aword. END DREamsequence. INT. BEDROOM -MORNING Oliver lies in bed. Helifts his upper body and leans over to look at a clock on thebedside table.
