I wish to profoundly thank the following authors/publishers whose works I constantly consulted in the course of the preparation of these manuals:

    LANGUE FRANCAISE Paris, 1989

LE GRAND Robert & Collins Dictionnaire FRANAIS-ANGLAIS /ANGLAIS FRANAIS

HarperCollins Publishers, 2007, Glasgow G64 2QT, Great Britain.

The AMERICAN HERITAGE dictionary of THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, 3RD EDITION, 1992 Boston, MA 02116

I owe immense gratitude to Dr Varus SOSOE, who proofread the entire work. Thank you for your painstaking efforts.

Also to the migrant parents for whom I was occasionally invited to interpret by their childrens schools in Geneva. Most often, those parents preferred to practice their French, allowing me to intervene only when they were in search of words. Whether they were Nigerians, Americans, British or Germans, the common features of their outputs had to do with verb endings that echoed the way it is done in their respective mother tongues. These manuals were conceived with a view to eliminating those errors. The desire to find a solution to the conjugation problems was partly born out of those encounters. I thank them for the inspiration.

Finally, I am grateful to my publishers, AuthorHouse UK, for the professionalism they displayed within a very short space of time.

En is a preposition of place. It is used before countries or states or locations, which, generally, are feminine, irrespective of whether they begin with a vowel or consonant . We use en to indicate a place where we are or live in, or to which we are travelling, if feminine.

We also use en in similar circumstances for masculine countries beginning with a v owel.

En Afghanistan, en Isral, en Irak, en Iran (see the countries concerned below)

These countries are feminine. So us e en :
