Chapter 1 The Tragedy of Little Miss Christmas
No one had ever thought that the earlymorning of December 26, 1996 would mark a tragic history inBoulder, Colorado. It was at 5:52 in the morning when the BoulderPolice Department received a frantic call via 911 emergencyhotline. The voice on the other line is no other than the mother ofthe young beauty queen. The call revealed that JonBenet Ramsey hadbeen abducted in the middle of the night and that the kidnappersleft a note asking for ransom. According to A. Hodges, author ofthe book titled A Mother Gone Bad: The Hidden Confession ofJonBenets Killer, the two and a half page ransom note containsinformation that the kidnappers (who identify themselves asrepresentatives of a small foreign faction known only as S.B.T.C)request a ransom of $118,000, threaten the death of JonBenet ifanyone at all is contacted, and inform that they will call theRamseys between eight and ten in the morning with moreinformation.
Here is copy of the ransom note left by thekidnappers to the Ramsey family:
"Mr. Ramsey.
Listen carefully! We are a group ofindividuals that represent a small foreign faction. We xx respectyour business but not the country that it serves. At this time wehave your daughter in our possession. She is safe and unharmed andif you want her to see 1997, you must follow our instructions tothe letter.
You will withdraw $118,000.00 from youraccount. $100,000 will be in $100 bills and the remaining $18,000in $20 bills. Make sure that you bring an adequate size attach tothe bank. When you get home you will put the money in a brown paperbag. I will call you between 8 and 10 am tomorrow to instruct youon delivery. The delivery will be exhausting so I advise you to berested. If we monitor you getting the money early, we might callyou early to arrange an earlier delivery of the money and hence anearlier delivery pickup of your daughter. Any deviation from myinstructions will result in the immediate execution of yourdaughter. You will also be denied her remains for proper burial. The two gentlemen watching over your daughter do not particularlylike you so I advise you not to provoke them. Speaking to anyoneabout your situation, such as Police, F.B.I., etc., will result inyour daughter being beheaded. If we catch you talking to a straydog, she dies. If you alert bank authorities, she dies. If themoney is in any way marked or tampered with, she dies. You will bescanned for electronic devices and if any are found, she dies. Youcan try to deceive us but be warned that we are familiar with Lawenforcement countermeasures and tactics. You stand a 99% chance ofkilling your daughter if you try to outsmart us. Follow ourinstructions and you stand a 100% chance of getting her back. Youand your family are under constant scrutiny as well as theauthorities. Don't try to grow a brain John. You are not the onlyfat cat around so don't think that killing will be difficult. Don'tunderestimate us John. Use that good southern common sense ofyours.
It is up to you now John!
Victory!
S.B.T.C"
The shocking revelation was that later thatday, the dead body of young JonBenet Ramsey was found in thebasement of their home, making JonBenets parents the primesuspects to the crime. This was the most shocking and mournfulmoment in this side of America. The rising star Little MissColorado, Miss Colorado Sunburst, Americas Little Miss Royale,Colorado All-Star Kids Cover Girl, and Little Miss Christmas would no longer be seen in the beauty pageant world anymore. Fromthat after-Christmas morn up to the present, the case is still fullof mystery, vagueness, and controversy.
Chapter 2 Hindrances and Lapses in the Investigation Processes
Aside from the fact the names in this crimeinvolved celebrities and key persons, alleged lapses on the partauthorities that responded to the crime scene and persons concernedin handling the case are what makes this tragedy highlycontroversial. Based on the insights presented by experts who dugdeeper in this case, there were significant hindrances that madethe crime a difficult puzzle to solve along with certain lapsesthat the concerned authorities have committed. These include thefollowing:
The time circumstances occurred
There was quite a lengthy gap between two ofthe essential circumstances. The time when the 911 call was madeinforming the police about the suspected abduction and the time theransom note was discovered came upon unfavorable circumstances. Theseparate events happened just as the shift of officers between thethird and first shifts was about to occur. This probably made itdifficult for the police department to provide immediate andconsistent response.
The tragedy happened during the Christmasseason
