Growing up as a millennial true crime enthusiasts like myself lurked more in - photo 4

Growing up as a millennial, true crime enthusiasts like myself lurked more in the shadows. We would casually drop facts among friends to find out who, too, had an interest in the subject. Ask who had watched Americas Most Wanted or Unsolved Mysteries. At sleepovers, see who else was game to summon spirits on your grandmothers Ouija board. Whose parents children and young adults in the 1960s and 70shad shared stories about Berkowitz, Bundy or Manson.

Today, however, those of us fascinated by true crime can connect easily to one another thanks to the massive rise in popularity of the genre. We find each other in Facebook groups, podcast Patreon pages and #crimetok. There are ways for us to become advocates, uncover new leads, help identify missing people or contribute our DNA so that the unidentified might get their names back.

For many of us, our interest in true crime stems from a desire to understand humanity better. What leads certain people to commit heinous acts? Or, we learn everything we can about crime to prepare in case we find ourselves a victim. With mysteries, many of us want to solve the puzzle. Where did that person go? What happened?

These questions led me to write this book. I pulled from the years of true crime content I have consumed to share stories and facts that might surprise or shock you. Cases that encompass a variety of true crime subjects and will lead you down new rabbit holes. You may even uncover a lead or solve a mystery yourself after reading.

While writing, I reflected on the real people impacted by the crimes and cases covered within these pages. Empathizing with and respecting victims and their families is something I strive to do in my work as an investigative journalist and podcast writer and researcher. Hopefully, I have accomplished the same throughout this book. Additionally, I hope my fellow true crime aficionados find these trivia questions and answers informative, compelling and eye-opening.
