The first thing I want to be done is to get that piece of crap [Jake Roberts] out of my ring! Dont just get him out of the ring, get him out of [WWE]! Because Ive proved, son, without a shadow of a doubt, you aint got what it takes anymore!
You sit there, and you thump your Bible and you say your prayers, and it didnt get you anywhere! Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16... Austin 3:16 says, I just whipped your ass!
All hes got to do is buy him a cheap bottle of Thunderbird and try to dig back some of that courage he had in his prime! As the King of the Ring, Im servin notice to every one of the [WWE] Superstars! I dont give a damn what they are, theyre all on the list, and thats Stone Colds list, and Im fixing to start running through all of em!
As far as this championship match is considered, son, I dont give a damn if its Davey Boy Smith or Shawn Michaels. Steve Austins time has come, and when I get the shot, youre looking at the next [WWE] Champion! And thats the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so!

Who is Stone Cold Steve Austin?
Stone Cold Steve Austin was born Steven James Anderson of Austin, TX. His mother, Beverly, was a single parent raising Steve and his brothers, Scott and Kevin, in Victoria, TX, before she met Ken Williams, an insurance salesman who also split his time as a cattle rancher and country singer. After marrying Beverly in 1968, Williams adopted the three boys, gave them his surname, and moved the family to Edna, TX, a small town 100 miles south of Houston with a population that ranged from 5,332 to 5,650. The Williams family eventually added another boy, Jeff, and a girl, Jennifer.

Okay, how did Steve Williams become Steve Austin?
When Steve Williams was sent to compete in Memphis, TNbased Mid-South Wrestling in 1989, the promotions booker, Dirty Dutch Mantell known to the WWE Universe as The Blu Brothers and Justin Hawk Bradshaws manager, Uncle Zebekiah, or in more recent years as Zeb Colter told the very inexperienced rookie he had 15 minutes to come up with a new moniker. The reason? Mid-South Wrestling already had an established star in Dr. Death Steve Williams.
After 15 minutes, the future Stone Cold hadnt come up with a new name. Thats when Mantell told him, Okay, youre Steve Austin.
Williams was concerned that people might think he was ripping off the main characters name from the TV series The Six Million Dollar Man. Mantell insisted it would work because the young Texans name was Steve and he was born in Austin.
Initially, Stone Cold didnt love the name change, but it worked out pretty well for him. So much, in fact, that he legally changed his name to Steve Austin in late 2007.

Stone Cold to a tea
After multiple failed attempts to find a suitable ring name for his new, edgy, cold-blooded persona, Steve Austin vented his frustrations to then-wife Jeanie Clarke while she made him some tea in their kitchen. Clarke, a Brentwood, England, native who drank tea all the time, tried reassuring Austin, telling him, Dont worry about it. Just go ahead and drink your tea before it gets stone cold.
Clarke and Austin instantly realized they had the perfect ring name. After running it past WWE for executive approval and legal clearance, Stone Cold Steve Austin was born.

A Royal Rumbler second to none
To this day, Steve Austin is the only WWE Superstar to win the Royal Rumble Match three times. Stone Cold was the last remaining entrant in the 30-man, over-the-top-rope contest in 1997, 1998, and 2001. In 1999, he nearly won his third consecutive Rumble Match.
The magnitude of Austins accomplishment is significant when you consider the fact that only six Superstars have won two Royal Rumble Matches: Hulk Hogan (199091), Shawn Michaels (199596), Triple H (2002, 2016), Batista (2005, 2014), John Cena (2008, 2013), and Randy Orton (2009, 2017).

Taking study breaks at WCCW
Steve Williams grew up a fan of sports entertainment, but his fascination with the industry magnified after transferring from Wharton County Junior College to the University of North Texas in Denton. Since it was only a 35-mile drive to Dallas, he and his college buddies would drive to the famed Dallas Sportatorium, home of World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW). There, theyd watch the ring action Friday nights and Saturday mornings, the latter being the day for WCCW TV tapings.
It was also during his days at UNT that Williams became more familiar with other televised promotions, including Power Pro Wrestling and Mid-South Wrestling, which featured an announcer with whom Stone Cold would later develop a lifelong friendship Jim Ross.

A middle finger to the wind
Though the age of Austin 3:16 was really picking up steam in 1997, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon once asked if Stone Cold could do a different gesture instead of flipping people off with his middle fingers, to alleviate complaints made by WWE business partners.
I said, No, theres not, Austin recollected at a media junket in 2016. I told Vince I was not going to change sh*t.
The Texas Rattlesnake explained that years of struggling to make a mark in sports entertainment, plus being unceremoniously dismissed by WCW management, had made him frustrated and angry. Id be damned if anybody was going to take anything from me, he said. Im going to run over you and were going to the top. Or
