Anthony Kiedis - Part 1
- Anthony was born on the 1 st of November 1962.
- He is of Lithuanian, English, Irish, French, Dutch and Mohican ancestry.
- Anthony - along with bassist Flea - are the only members to have appeared on every one of the bands ten studio albums.
- At the time Anthony moved to Hollywood to live with his father, Kiedis senior was struggling to find work as an actor - and turned to selling drugs.
- It has been said that the two would often use marijuana and cocaine together.
- By the time Anthony was fifteen he had already accidentally tried heroin, mistaking it for something else.
- He met Flea whilst attending Fairfax high school and the two became close friends. He has said that they were brought together through the forces of mischief!
- It was this love of mischief that caused Anthony to break his back. At only 15, he and Flea had developed a hobby of jumping into swimming pools from buildings. Anthony attempted a jump from a five-storey building and missed the pool by a few inches...
- Whilst his father was struggling to find work, Anthony landed his first role as an actor as Sylvester Stallones son in 1978s F.I.S.T.
- Despite his addiction to drugs, Anthony was regularly awarded straight As during his time at school.
John Frusciante
- John was born on the 5 th March 1970.
- He was born in Queens, New York.
- John came from a highly musical family - his father was a pianist and his mother a singer.
- At 15, John attended a RHCP gig and became a huge fan of the band.
- He joined the Chilis when he was 18, in time for the recording of their 1989 album Mothers Milk.
- However, in 1992, soon after the massive success of their next album - Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Josh quit the band.
- He descended into serious drug addiction and became a recluse. Flea was the one member of the band who supported and kept in touch with him during this troubling period.
- In 1998 he entered rehab, which he successfully completed. Following this he re-joined the band.
- John was ranked as the 18 th best guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine in 2003.
- He quit the band for a second time in 2007, although this wasnt announced until 2009!
Flea - Part 1
- Fleas real name is Michael Peter Balzary.
- He was born on the 16 th October 1962.
- Flea was born in Melbourne, Australia.
- He is of Hungarian and Irish descent.
- Bass wasnt Fleas first instrument - he was an excellent jazz trumpeter at a young age!
- He was - in fact - so good that he played with the LA Junior Philharmonic Orchestra.
- His stepfather was an alcoholic who got involved in shoot-outs with police.
- As a stark contrast, his biological father was a keen fisherman.
- He reckons that their album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan is the rockingest record the band has ever made.
- Flea has been married twice - first off to Loesha Zeviar between 1985 and 1990, and then from 2005 until the present day to Frankie Rayder, a model.

Chad Smith
- Chad was born on the 25 th October 1961.
- His full name is Chadwick Gaylord Smith.
- He was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- Chad joined the Peppers in 1988.
- Chad is known for looking surprisingly similar to anchorman Will Ferrell. Has anyone ever seen the two together in the same room...?
- As a true philanthropist, Chad donates to a range of good causes, including the Make-A-Wish foundation and MusiCares.
- Chad has released a drum-based app for Apple platforms which has received praise from fellow drummers and fans.
- He formed his own band - Chickenfoot - in 2008.
- He also has a side-project called Chad Smiths Bombastic Meatbats.
- In 2010 Chad released a childrens song called Rhythm Train which featured TV and Film legend Dick Van Dyke. MTV called it the best childrens song of all time.
General Facts
- The band have sold around 80 million albums.
- The boys are all accomplished musicians, and often improvise large portions of their performances.
- In 2012, RHCP were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - by Chris Rock, a long-time fan and friend.
- On the 15 th April 2012, the band performed at a free concert in Ohio to support President Barack Obamas re-election campaign.
- Three of the bands albums are listed in Rolling Stone Magazines 500 greatest Albums of all time. These are Californication (399 th ), Blood Sugar Sex Magik (310 th ) and By the Way (304 th ).
- Two of the bands songs mention that it feels lonely when you dont know yourself - Knock me Down (1989) and My Friends (1995).
- The bands song Love Rollercoaster was recorded for the Beavis and Butthead movie.
- The song doesnt feature on ANY of the bands albums.
- The band once cancelled a tour because drummer Chad Smith broke his wrist whilst playing softball.
- Two songs have been written in tribute to Hillel Slovak - My Lovely Man and Knock Me Down.
