Acknowledgments

First and foremost, this book is dedicated to my friend and mentor Barbara Bartholic, who passed away in November of 2010. If it hadnt been for Barbaras understanding, support and wisdom, this book would never have been conceived.

My gratitude goes out for all who participated in sharing their stories and anomalous love relationship experiences. Some of them have suffered silently for so many years, and I know how difficult it was for many to even break the silence to become part of this book. My greatest wish is that some day all who have endured such anomalous trauma will not have to be bound by the confines of secrecy and all that entails. Your contributions are greatly appreciated, not only by me but also by those who will benefit from reading about your experiences.

May the light of understanding be freely shared so that our human condition can raise up from its current state into one of true freedom and harmony especially in love relationships.

Foreword

by Nigel Kerner

In ancient times the notion that there are powerful yet invisible forces profoundly affecting the lives of individuals was taken as read. Even today there are people from many cultures all over the world who accept these influences as an implicit part of their daily reality. Jinn, dybbuk, succubus, incubus, ghosts, spirits, all these are names from various religions used to describe this same effect.

In the secular western context we are strongly encouraged to believe that all of this is based on superstition and ignorance. Along come the brave knights of Science, riding on their faithful steeds measuring empirically the enforced resolutions of physicality and cutting down with their lances anything they cannot see, hear, smell, taste or touch. Yet most of us are unaware that Science, or scientism, the new religion of modern times, is as much faith based as any other religion. As Robert Matthews, science writer, reviewing the latest developments in physics pointed out: It remains hard to escape the conclusion that there just hasnt been much progress toward answering the Big Questions. That is not to deny that some very significant discoveries have been made and have shown that physicists are far from reaching their summit, and in some cases may be on the wrong path altogether. But Mathews might also admit that all too often these discoveries are subsequently proven suspect or downright wrong. He points out that although key cosmic parameters such as an accurate determination of the age of the universe have been arrived at put simply, these measurements point to a universe filled with a kind of matter we have never seen and propelled by a force we do not understand. Such a revelation is progress of a sort, but it hardly suggests that the peak of Mount Enlightenment is just over the next hump. The impression is one of physicists not so much approaching a beckoning peak as wandering about in a thick fog. Scientists often raise more questions than they can answer because in measuring with only a partial view, they can see only part of the answer. The more perceptive doyens of science admit this and accept that there is a part that the scientific method can never reach. Perhaps this part is of the most import of all, the part that is the centre of all meaning. After all there is no quark called feeling that they can measure.

As all the great thinkers of the past could testify from Galileo onwards, science ironically progresses out of the premise of being wrong and arguably leaves more casualties in its wake by placing blinkers on the view of its faithful flock and leading them over the precipice than all the wars and conflagrations that have ever happened on the face of the planet.

In Eve Lorgens remarkable book she explores an aspect of our reality that may well be one of the most powerful driving forces in our world today, the influence on our lives of a non-human intelligence with highly advanced technology at its disposal. Could the demons identified not only by the shamans of traditional societies but also by most of the worlds religions in fact be manifestations of extra-terrestrial, or perhaps ultra-terrestrial beings such as this entering uninvited into our sphere of existence and physical reality? If such is indeed the case and unknown to us our lives are to some extent being managed and controlled by entities with an agenda that has nothing to do with our welfare or well being then Eve is doing us a great service in forewarning us of the signs to look out for.

Stephen Hawking and Michio Kaku both believe that not only is it likely that civilizations exist on other planets but also that such civilizations may well be superior to us in technological development and for that reason will be predatory towards lesser species. They will be to us as we are towards animals. With a mere 200 year old technology we send out robots to investigate asteroids. Just what is so impossible about a world out there that might have sent highly sophisticated biologically contrived roboids, run on a non-living programmed artificial intelligence to carry out their own agendas, agendas that might seek to superimpose their will on us through a superior technology. If such is the case it is difficult to think of a more powerful way to exert that influence than through the control of the emotional partnerships that are so central to our lives.

Eve states that her research suggests that what we are dealing with here is something much more than a simple toxic relationship issue easily explained by contemporary pop psychology. She points out the specific red flags that point to an unseen influence including paranormal activity and/or alien abduction scenarios. Throughout the book Eve takes meticulous care to distinguish the paranormal from the normal and avoid the traps that so many less careful writers have fallen into in attempting to fit the case study to the theory rather than the theory to the case study. Her own warmth and the humanity that she conveys throughout the book along with her clear and accessible writing style make this book a compelling read.

Eve points out that the vast majority of her case studies come from those already interested and involved with out of the box topics. It would be of significant interest if one day she might be able to extend her research to a wider sample including those more caught in the mainstream to see if they too report the same phenomena. It is my guess that many, if they are honest and courageous enough, will report the same.

David Jacobs and the late, great Budd Hopkins have reported a huge acceleration in what they have termed the hybrid program over the last twenty years. They base this on abduction accounts. This acceleration seems to be paralleled by enormous leaps in technological development in fields such as artificial intelligence and bio-technology that make Ray Kurzweils trans-humanist dream look more and more possible. If that dream is their agenda and the hybrid program and our own technological development are indeed connected then we are heading towards a future in which our humanity is controlled and dominated by a technologically advanced intelligence converting us into its own format. If such is the case then Eve Lorgens book is of great import to us all and very timely in its publication.
