Introduction
This bookis written for everyone who wants to learn about the mysterious phenomenon ofkundalini and use it to reach the pinnacle of human development -enlightenment. The book is also for those who are going through an involuntaryawakening and seeking help to alleviate their symptoms and make the best ofthis event.
I have beentreating clients who had an involuntary kundalini awakening for a number ofyears and I know that this can be scary. The last thing these people want ismore horror stories about the kundalini. And I can reassure you right herethat this will not be another book full of scary stories about the kundalinibut a guide that will help you to understand what is happening to you and torecognise it for what it is: a positive event that will urge you to live ahealthier and more spiritual life.
For bothkinds of people those who are seeking a safe awakening of the kundalini andthose who are looking for help after an involuntary awakening - this book willshow you how to use the kundalini to develop towards enlightenment in leaps andbounds. You will learn that kundalini is like the fuel that will carry thevehicle of your body and mind towards your highest potential of love, wisdomand bliss.
If you havenot yet had a kundalini awakening, I will show you a pathway of awakening thatis extraordinarily safe, so that you can use this wonderful energy to furtherand enrich your spiritual life. The path I will be teaching is slow but youwill feel its benefits pretty much from day one.
My ownkundalini was roughly awakened through a year of bio-energetic therapy in whichI participated at the age of 24. It was a rather disturbing experience thatpropelled me into a deep crisis. Yet now, almost 30 years later, I feel it wasone of the best things that ever happened to me because it greatly acceleratedmy spiritual and personal development in every way.
I wish thatmy awakening had happened more gently and with a knowledgeable guide at my sideso that the initial impact had been less confusing and painful. But thelong-term effects of my kundalini awakening were nothing less than wonderful.
Throughoutthe intervening 30 years, I have undergone tremendous and positive changes inevery aspect of my life that were all initiated within me through my kundaliniawakening all those years ago. There were also a number of challenges along theway that I had to master all by myself because, for many years, I did not evenknow what had happened to me. Back then, I did not have the Internet to help meself-diagnose what was going on within me.
After myinitial awakening it was not long before I started to harvest the enormousblessings of this extraordinary event: a deep sense of meaning and purpose andthe feeling that everything in my life served the one overarching goal of reachingenlightenment for the sake of all beings.
It was onlya year after my kundalini first rose that I started to immerse myself intoTibetan Buddhist meditation and have done so ever since. Over the years I alsodeveloped my professional life as a psychotherapist and found my own challengesvery useful as they enabled me to have more empathy for my clients and to helpthem more efficiently. In 1997 my Buddhist teachers asked me to work as aBuddhist teacher - giving me the opportunity to help others to progress ontheir own spiritual path.
Due to thekundalini circulating in my system, I became more and more clairvoyant and thisheightened awareness was very useful in helping my clients and myself faster. Ialso experienced rushes of creativity that led to the discovery of the psycho-spiritualmethod of higher-consciousness healing in 1998. This transpersonal approach tohealing proved highly efficient and has helped hundreds - even thousands - ofpeople to free themselves from the most debilitating problems, including allkundalini symptoms.
Yet, evenat that time I did not realise that much of my own development was due to akundalini awakening. This was to change when in 2002 I asked my Buddhistteacher Garchen Rinpoche to initiate me into the Tibetan Buddhist meditation oftummo, which is the Tibetan Buddhist equivalent of a kundalini awakeningpractice. I was very interested in this initiation as it is clearly stated inthe Tibetan Buddhist system that tummo is the prerequisite for all higherstages of mind and especially enlightenment.
GarchenRinpoche initiated me willingly and he also teaches the basics of a kundaliniawakening publicly and in his books. Usually, the kundalini practice of tummois not taught publicly in Tibetan Buddhism because it can be abused foregotistical purposes and it can also cause difficult side effects. However, times have changed and other Tibetan Buddhist teachers have also started toteach this practice publicly, as well. Most noteworthy are Lama Yeshe in hisbook The Bliss of Inner Fire and Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in his book ClearLight of Bliss.
Once I hadmy tummo initiation, I started to research every available book about tummo andkundalini and it was only then that it slowly dawned on me that I had alreadyhad a kundalini awakening back in 1984. Under the guidance of Garchen Rinpochemy experience became a lot more rewarding and I started to experience more andmore unconditional happiness and bliss coursing through my inner being in undulatingwaves of ecstasy.
For a longtime I thought that I should never teach how to awaken the kundalini because itcan be abused for egotistical purposes and there can also be a number ofchallenges during this process. I myself experienced these problems only to asmall degree but I know many people who suffered more than I ever have. Therefore, for many years I stuck to what I did best: helping my psychotherapyclients and meditation students to overcome emotional and relationship-relatedproblems by teaching self-awareness and loving kindness towards themselves andothers.
However, after I was into my own kundalini awakening for almost 20 years I received yetanother wonderful blessing: I became able to directly communicate with my higherpower, the Tibetan Buddhist deity White Tara.
At first ithappened in a very subtle way and I simply felt I received answers to myprayers around my daily life issues. These were very precise predictions aboutwhat would happen, for example, with some problems we faced when bringing upour son and while trying to buy a house. Soon I began to write down theseanswers I received in meditation and kept a very critical eye on whether ornot these predictions came true. To my great astonishment they virtually allcame true even in the most unlikely cases - and this has continued to happenover the course of more than ten years.
I had triedpredictive methods many times before, like working with a pendulum or usingTarot cards. My results were usually very unreliable and it never took longbefore I gave up on these methods as I felt I was confusing myselfunnecessarily. But once I tried to communicate with White Tara directly, theseerrors just did not reoccur. Throughout the last ten years I have asked many questionsaround matters concerning my family and myself and overall I have found thisway of working to be highly accurate.
