W e all need a little magic in our lives. Im here to help you see how the Moonthat everyday wonder-filled object that lights our skiescan help us have just that. By magic, I mean a bit of mystery, fun, enchantment, and wonder that can help us live a purposeful life connected with the natural world around us. (Nothing dark here, except the absence of light in certain lunar phases!)
Youll find the information you need to connect with the Moon and her guiding power as well as tools, tips, rituals, and spells to enhance and direct your most positive life. From health and wealth to sports and pets, from luck and love to home and career, you need look no farther than your power within to manifest your most treasured dreams.
Our gossamer Moon is not only hypnotizing, but it also makes Earth a livable place, helping stabilize climate and create tidal rhythms that have guided humans for millennia. Its most likely origin? The result of a Mars-size body colliding with Earth, whose resulting debris formed the most mesmerizing feature in our night skythe only celestial body beyond Earth yet visited by humans.
Luna, moon in Latin, was the Roman Moon goddess (Selene, in Greek mythology). That goddess, the Moon, is an evocative one full of luck, charm, energy, power, lightand yes, magicinspiring love, poetry, music, literature, art, science, and more.
And this enchanting goddess has been charming us for millennia. An object of wonder, curiosity, exploration, and enlightenment, the Moon has been worshipped by people from all countries and cultures, who have looked to her for guidance, power, romance, and light.
If youre like me, at some point youve shot for the Moon, been over the Moon, howled (maybe only me?) at the Moon, been Moonstruck, hoped for the once-in-a-Blue-Moon opportunity, watched as the Man in the Moon followed you home (and wondered how he got there), evenI hopehung the Moon for someone you love. What other inanimate object evokes such a range of emotions?
And about every twenty-nine days the Full Moon appears, as the Moon moves to the side of the Earth directly opposite the Sun, illuminated to her fullest, providing an awe-inspiring spectacle.
But what happens between these Full Moons is just as magical and powerful. Learning to understand the Moons phases and their connection to your natural rhythms is not mysterious, but, rather, predictable, as it happens every month. How the mystical Moon influences you and the world around you as well as how you choose to harness her power to enhance your life are much more variableand rewarding.
We know the Moon affects tidesthey rise and fall with her phases. Because the human body is about 60 percent water, the Moons pull can affect us in those same ways changing the tides of our moods and intents. Harness that unique power to bring clarity to your life and positive energy to all you do. Give thanks for the Moons guidance and influence each day by recognizing her presence in your life.
Harmonizing your natural rhythms with the Moons is a chance to add some quiet time to your lifeto break away from the constant bombardment of noise and information everywhere you look, and look, instead, into the hypnotic light of the Moon and deep into your heart and mind to determine or remind yourself what matters, to reset your compass and evaluate your path forward. It is in the quiet that we hear our thoughts most clearly.
When you align your life with the cycles of Nature and the intuitive messages of the moment, youll find peace, deeper meaning, and increased opportunity! Remember, the Moon is full of magical power, but the power to harness it and use it wisely is within you.
T he Moonoften characterized as a female passing through lifes phasesfrom young woman to adult woman and mother, and, finally, to the old woman, or croneis a gentler figure than the blazing Sun; she reflects, rather than creates, energy. Our opportunity to be energized by the Moon and reflect in her light provides time and space to contemplate the life phases we are passing through. Listening to our minds and hearts, intentionally setting and achieving goals, and celebrating achievementseven if it means letting gocan lead to greater intuition of our desires and the futures we envision.
The idea of the Moon as magical stems from this idea that the Moons phases, her monthly cycle, as well as the waxing and waning of life itself, are all interconnected. Practicing Moon magic means attuning with Nature and your natural rhythms and aligning to the energies of the Moons powerful eight phases to focus and refine what you intentionally want to invite into, or rid from, your life. Its your time each month to focus on you, to be peaceful, quiet, and thoughtful, to be fully engaged in the moment, and to think about whats important. And while some results can be immediate when the stars line up, so to speak manifesting the Moons magic in your life is a process, which means time and patience.
THE FORCE OF THE MOONS PHASES
Lunar forces are invisible and individual, so theyre tough to prove, but a few studies have shown how the Moon affects water. Consider that adult bodies, on average, are 60 percent water (men have a slightly higher percentage than women; lean tissue contains more water than fattier tissue). Earths water makeup is similarabout 70 percent. If you live near a body of water, you know the tides are exaggerated during a Full or New Moon. When it comes to showing the concrete and significant effects that the Moon has on humans, one small study by Swiss researchers found people have a harder time sleeping during a Full Moon, suggesting, once again, that we are affected by lunar energy.
