Acknowledgments
I want to thank my husband, my parents, and my sister for their continued support in all my writing endeavours. Thank you to my dog, Pumpkin, for keeping me company while I wrote for what seemed like endless hours. Thank you to my cousin, Bryan, for making me look like a big star when Im really not.
Brenda, my dear friend, thank you for your continued support and willingness to read everything I threw at you. Thank you to my dear friend, Jane, for being my own personal cheerleader. I can always count on you as a proper mate.
Its easy to write historical fiction, as its essentially your interpretation of the story. Though it takes research, its not nearly as much as it takes to write non-fiction. So, I want to thank all of the other history nerds, like myself, for your plethora of information that was so valuable to my cause. Your blogs and documentaries, and lectures offered me so much insight into the world of medieval medicine. Professor Carole Rawcliffe, your talks on leprosy were indispensable, and I got so much pleasure out of listening to you.
Thank you to Professor Lorraine Attreed at Holy Cross College for everything you did to help me start this journey. You offered an endless supply of materials and information essential for this book, and Im so honoured to call you my friend. Thank you for taking the time to visit with me and Talk Tudor and for always returning my emails right away. Your insightful and learned help was always what I needed. Your encouragement and support for my book were valued more than you know. Your expertise in English medieval history is used far beyond what you teach in the classroom. It is much appreciated. Im glad to have known you for almost twenty-five years!
Thank you to historian Matt Lewis for being kind enough to let me post a guest blog on your website years ago. I reached out to you as a fellow writer and avid fan of your work. Little did I know, you would take the time to respond with as much support as you did. If not for that, Pen & Sword may have never reached out to me. So, thank you for taking a chance on me even though I was a Henry VIII fan! And thank you for assuring me that, yes, Pen & Sword was the real deal. I am eternally grateful.
And finally, thank you to all of the staff at Pen & Sword for making this possible. Eleri Pipien, thank you for reaching out to me. Getting your email asking if I was interested in writing a book didnt seem real at the time!
