A small but dedicated group of scholars has devoted considerable effort to uncovering the truth about events surrounding the 1953 coup.Most persistent among them is Mark J. The CIA prepared its own internal history of the coup, but it remained secret for many years. In 2000, a copy was leaked to the New York Times . It confirmed much of what was known about the coup and added many new details. The reporter who obtained it, James Risen, deserves much credit for his role in bringing it to light.
