Acknowledgments
No one person can do it all, which has been a hard lesson for me to learn through the years. This book could not have happened without the thousands of clients and their loved ones on the Other Side who have touched my life more than I could ever eloquently communicate.
My love and appreciation first and foremost goes to my husband, Chuck Robinett, for his love and ice cream runs when I was stressing about deadlines. Thanks to my kids, Micaela Even Kempf and Connor Even, who have always understood my crazy job and schedule and even when I was feeling pressured and sassy, gave me hugs and a smile. To my step-daughters, Cora and Molly, for their love. To my dad, who makes me want to pull out my hair and hug him at the same time.
I am grateful for Mary Byberg, my assistant and friend, for her always upbeat attitude and for reminding me that glitter and sparkle can make any girl happy. And that we all have that glitter within us even when we think our glitter jar is empty.
I am thankful to Mike and Marjanna McClain for the late-night belly laughs and casino visits. Thank you to my mother-in-law, Mary Lou, for teaching me that tea should always be served in pretty teacups and that life is too short to listen to awful music.
I am grateful for my best friends and confidantes Gayle Buchan, Donna Shorkey, Laura Bohlman, and Jenni Licata. For Katie Eaves who gets me and who trusts me with her crazy entourage of ghosts. To Courtney Sierra for always making my hair look superb and for being the best and most affordable counselor a girl could ever have. Thanks to Lori Weiss for her love, support, and her constant questions, which make me do my own soul searches.
My thanks go out to my clients and my Facebook friends. My gratitude goes out to Llewellyn Publishing and my editors Amy, Stephanie, and Ed. Others that I am grateful for include Sheila Dever, Rosalyn Wrobel, Jennifer Hupke, Kass Hillard, Cheri Ford, Debbi Martone, Nancie Janitz, Deneen Baxter, and Caryn Gordon. Thank you to Team Afterlife: Deborah Bruno, Julie Ong, Jenny Thelen, Gloria Paulik, Melinda Kunst, and Tena Kuchar.
I am thankful to my own Spirit Guides for teaching me that learning and exploring never gets old, and that it doesnt necessarily have to take place in a classroom. And finally, to my mom in Heaven who reminds me that our loved ones on the Other Side are around us even when we dont feel them beside us, and that angels surround us during our happy times and during the darkest times.

Chapter One
Death and Dying
Ive found over the years that many people are afraid of death until they are actually dying. Isnt it ironic that we come into this world crying and yet our bodies appear to be at peace when we depart? We mourn for those weve lost and yet those whove died rejoice that theyve been set free.
When a person dies, their spirit and soul leave the physical body. For many, dying is a smooth transition going from one plane of existence to another. In many religions, the process is depicted as floating the energy of the person departing from the physical and going to either a place of Heaven or Hell. Heaven, in many religions, is depicted upward and Hell as downward. This book, however, is not written to educate on the varying theological theories, but to instead share with you the stories and experiences I have received from the thousands of spirits that have communicated with me in my role as a medium. I dont claim to know everything. I dont. With each soul that I speak with, I continue to learn. That is the journey of life, even after physical death.
My mom was dying and we all knew it, except for her. We attempted to keep hopeful and not share every detail of her health struggles with her as the doctors informed us in a play-by-play way. Our family was pretty much given a choice. Either my mom receive heart surgery, but she would probably die, or she didnt receive the surgery, and she would probably die. The odds werent good. We didnt tell her the odds; instead, as a family we decided on the surgery with the hopes of a miracle. Several weeks later, she was moved out of the Critical Care Unit to a regular room. It made absolutely no sense to us as we knew that she wasnt non-critical, yet held on to the small strands of hope anyway. The medical staff removed her respirator and even gave her some soft food, something that she hadnt had in weeks. Her mood was happy, light, and she even had a youthful energy around her that the whole family noticed. I went to visit her one evening, by myself. Holding her hand, she whispered, Kristy, I just want to go home.
Mom, we are trying to get you there. I promise! I answered, squeezing her hand, but she shook her head side to side.
