Born in Saranac Lake, New York, Lisa Densmore Ballard has been hiking, paddling, fishing, and skiing in the Adirondacks for most of her life. She spends her summers in the Adirondacks, visiting her family, spending time in the backcountry, and enjoy her second home on Chateaugay Lake.
A full-time freelance writer and photographer, Ballards images have appeared in numerous publications including Backpacker , Adirondack Life , and Adirondack Explorer . She has an extensive stock-photo file of the Adirondacks. If you can see it from a hiking trail, Ive probably taken a picture of it, she says.
A past-president of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, Lisa complements her visual skills with writing. She has written hundreds of articles for as many magazines and websites, plus a number of books in addition to the first and second editions of this one: Ski Faster!
