Surely springtime is the loveliest season. I'm sitting out here by the creek, drinking in the beauty. Mists hang over the meadow and the sun is beginning to thread its way through broken clouds. I love the early morning stillness when all is peaceful and quiet except for the chorus of robins and song sparrows, meadowlarks and other birds. Two baby squirrels are chasing each other up and down a tree trunk.
This is our alternate Sunday (when there are no church services). Something different seems to be in the atmosphere on a Sunday, something not present on weekdays: an almost sacred, holy, or hallowed feeling, compared to the everyday, humdrum routine. Maybe this is because we lay our work aside and reserve a day chiefly to worship God. There is a sweet benediction, an almost imperceptible something, that enriches the day. I found a poem that I like and want to copy in my journal:
