Introduction
There is a lot of talk that takes place more every day on how being natural and organic in your choices is an important part of trying to live better. It makes sense, of course. Eating natural and healthy foods is a better choice for all of us to make when we want to take care of our bodies, prevent disease, and just have a higher level of authentic energythe food we eat gives us energy, not the chemicals we take in. These are positive changes and bringing awareness to them has lead people to think more about the products they put on their largest living organismtheir skin.
Our skin takes a hit from all angles. Exposure to free radicals, sunshine, and cleaning chemicals are common. Thats just externally. Internally, what we put into our bodies also impacts how our skin responds. The problem is that it often happens slowly so we dont recognize it as quickly as we can. Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, when did I suddenly look a year older? Most of us have, but it doesnt have to be that way. Or maybe we looked down at a cut we got on our hand and see that its healing slowly and probably going to scar. We wonder why, because we used to heal quickly.
There are a variety of concerns that factor into why our skin responds the way it does. Some of the more common ones are:
- The foods we eat: allergies and food sensitiveness can impact our skins appearance and overall health.
- Our physical environment: living in areas that are dryer and even really humid impact our skin greatly. It can either be really dry or else we can always be warm enough that rashes end up appearing in places we dont wantand that are certainly uncomfortable. No further elaboration necessary.
- The products we use: we dont mean to do it, but there are certain products that we buy at a store to help with one thing that lead to problems in another area. Face washes are a common oneyou get rid of the oily skin, only to find that you now have dry skin.
When we have these things working against our skins health, it becomes important to find something that will work for it. Homemade organic salves are a great part of that solution. They dont cure everything, but they cure a whole lot more than what you might imagine.
Wouldnt it be wonderful to give that burn on your hand temporary relief while also accelerating its healing?
Have you considered how happy youd be to not have to put a store-brought, chemically made antiseptic on a cut? Especially a cut on your little ones hand or knee.
Think about how amazing it would be to look in the mirror and see your complexion is more even-toned, your wrinkles less prevalent.
All of these warm and inviting thoughts are made possible by taking a little bit of initiative to learn more about homemade salves for lifes little concerns. Youre on your way, but in this book, youre going to learn a lot on how to go about this, including:
- Overviews of the essential oils, herbs, and base ingredients that you will need to create the salves
- Insight as to why our bodies are like sponges for organic ingredients
- Some clever and creative ways in which you can use homemade salves
- Recipes for salves that are designed to heal burns
- Recipes for salves that are designed to heal cuts
- Recipes for salves that help ward off dry skin
- Recipes for salves that have anti-aging properties
After reviewing everything, I feel confident that youre going to be enthusiastic about trying some of these great recipes out and seeing firsthand how they can work for you. As with anything that you do with self-care, please remember that homemade ingredients are not a substitute for medical attention if you feel that it is required. That is important to remember, because there is only one goal hereto help you be the healthiest, best you possible.
The Benefits of Homemade Salves over Store Bought Products
Packaging and marketing are gold for remedies that are meant to solve a problem that someone is having. They are made with science, have proven results, and show the most amazingly happy, satisfied people on their packaging, in their print ads, and on television. Its appealing, of course, because if you are suffering from something like dry skin on the side of your face, you do want it gone. Its bothersome.
However
How many of us feel like we got results that would make the marketing cut after purchasing one of these products, as influenced by their large, multi-million dollar marketing campaigns? Sadly, very few. Why? They just dont deliver all they said they would, and many times its the small, fine print that lets you know that. And seriously, who wants to read two pages of tiny font, single spaced medical lingo just to find out that results arent typical. Its time to expect moreand spend less.
While money is certainly motivating, especially when you can save more and spend less on things that arent all that fun to take care of (burns, scars, age spots, etc.), there are some highly logical reasons why you want to become that person that takes the initiative to go the organic homemade route first:
- You know whats going into what youre putting on: this sounds funny, but its meant seriouslywhy would you put something on your skin that you cant even pronounce, and dont know what it is, exactly? Ive done that at times in my life before out of convenience. But there was always that lingering voice inside my head that was wondering what it was, and if it was actually good for me. How about you? And its strange, once you acknowledge how uncomfortable you are with putting a foreign substance on your skin, even if your favorite sports athlete recommends it, things will begin to change. Your thinking will shift to a healthier alternative, which is what homemade salves are.
