"Stop looking so worried. Like I said earlier, someonewill meet you at the other end and swap rucksacks with you." Fazerstraightened the collars on my jacket before stepping back to assess me.
"Grab yourself a coffee and simply wait for the next train to bring youback to London. It's a simple job babe and you're doing me a huge favour."
Fazer leaned closer to place a lingering kiss on my lips. He had the ability tomake my knees weak by the simplest of touches. I breathed in his scent andclosed my eyes savouring his touch. We had only been seeing each other for acouple of months but he was my everything. He made me feel wanted and I liked thefeelings he provoked. He was a member of the Dyers and although young, he wasworking his way through the ranks already. People respected him and thereforewhen I was with him, people looked favourably towards me. I wanted for nothingincluding love and that was exactly what I needed at this moment in time.
My family had pushed me aside lately. My brother had recently joined the familybusiness and there wasn't room for a thirteen year old girl hanging around. Mumused to remind me that little girls should be seen and not heard but thatwasn't for me. I had a voice and it was Fazer who chose to listen but this timeI would leave and not return.
Fazer pulled away putting some space between us. I opened myeyes and was greeted with a wide smile. "Come on baby, let's get you onthat train." He was always so thoughtful and caring towards me, even now standingon the platform. He knew that I was worried about the delivery but he hadreassured me. He couldn't make the delivery himself because of work commitmentsand I wanted to be the perfect girlfriend and help him as much as possible. Wehad discussed moving in with each other. I knew how expensive this would be andI didn't want to get in the way of his work so if I could help in any way, thenI would.
Fazer wrapped an arm firmly around my shoulder and directed me towards the carriagedoors that had just opened.
"I'll see you later on this afternoon," he whispered before placing achaste kiss on my temple. I moved slowly from his grasp and stepped backtowards the train.
I placed both hands on the straps of the rucksack firmly and gave him thebrightest smile that I could muster although my stomach twisted with anxiety.
"Remember to only use that mobile in an emergency." Fazer nodded towardsthe front pocket of my jacket where he had placed it earlier.
I patted it and nodded, letting him know that I understood his instructions. Fazerhad been very clear of what I needed to do and I didn't want to let him down.He had also given me 10 so I could buy myself some lunch, another gesture ofhis love towards me.
"Go on, get on before it leaves you behind."
I stepped on to the train before turning to look at him. "Love you,"I stated shyly.
Fazer gave me a wink as the doors shut leaving me feeling a little rejected. Iunderstood that we were in a public place but he wasn't usually quiet regardinghis feelings towards me.
I turned and slowly walked through the carriage looking foran available seat. It was after 9.00am so there weren't many commuters as theywere already at work. I smiled as I passed seated passengers, a little unsureof my surroundings until I found an available chair. I removed the rucksackfrom my back and placed it on the seat before I sat beside it closest to thewindow. I glanced around the carriage getting my bearing and checking out mysurroundings before I removed my jacket and placed it over my lap. The journeywould be over an hour so I needed to get comfortable although there was no waythat I could relax with the butterflies in my stomach. I reached out andgrabbed the rucksack before placing it on the floor between my feet. That way Icould keep it secure and prevent it from falling over. The bag was heavy, Ihadn't asked what was inside but I wasn't stupid. I knew that Fazer and hisfriends delivered drugs, that's why they had nice clothes and plenty of money. Fazerhad made it clear that this was a one off which had put my mind at rest but Iwanted to be liked by the Dyers, loved even and if this meant helping him outfrom time to time then that's what I would do. I snuggled down into the chair, looking out of the window and watching the houses pass me by to try to stopmyself from over thinking.
The announcement pulled me from my thoughts as it stated ourarrival at Ipswich. It didn't take as long as I had expected so I wasunprepared. I quickly gathered my jacket and rucksack before standing, panicking that I may miss the stop. A few other passengers stood so I allowedthem to move closer to the doors while I gathered my thoughts and waited forthe train to stop.
As I stepped from the carriage, I took in my surroundings and looked to seewhether I recognised anyone. Everyone was rushing towards the exit, clearingthe platform and there was no one around apart from a boy of similar agesitting on a bench further down the platform. I glanced around again, checkingto see whether there was anyone else but he was now the only person in my vicinity.
I strolled uncomfortably towards the young boy hoping that he would give me sometype of sign that it was him, I was supposed to be meeting. As I neared, Islowed my pace and I must have interrupted him because he looked up from hismobile and smiled.
I let out a loud sigh feeling relieved that I had finally made contact. Thiscould now be a smooth transaction and I could be on my way back home shortly. Isat beside him and placed the rucksack on the ground between my feet butwithout warning, the boy snatched the rucksack and took off down the platform. It took me a few seconds for the realisation to sink in but when it did, Ijumped from the bench and took chase. He ran down a set of stairs into the maintrain station and I was now close behind him. I flung my arms out in front ofme, hoping to grab the rucksack he had slung over his shoulder but as soon asmy fingertips touched the material, it was quickly out of my reach. The boyleapt over the turnstiles and I followed in hot pursuit but he was able to getover it quicker. I dropped my jacket on the ground and bent to pick it upbefore following the boy out onto the street. As I exited the train station Inoticed that the boy was halfway up the hill and too far for me to catch.
"Fuck!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. A few people turned toface me but I didn't care, I was trying to rationalise what I was going to do.I placed my palm on my forehead and banged it several times, trying to think aspeople brushed past me trying to get out of the train station. It was only thenthat I realised that I was standing in the doorway and drawing unwantedattention to myself.
