Introduction
Let us have fun here in this section and lets find out how much exactly the toaster oven evaluated over time.
Everyone knows the regular traditional toaster. Apparently, the toaster oven was born, inspired from the toaster of course, after someone at Westinghouse Corporation thought of the brilliant idea in 1910. Although the first toaster oven was created accidentally, it continued to develop into a product the consumers appreciate.
From the 1920 to 1960, many changes occurred and the toasters and toaster oven become more sophisticated, efficient and smooth working.
Chrome is still the material of choice for toaster and toaster ovens, but now many designs and finishes are available on the market, along with many different functions.
The simple toasters, went from 2 slices to 4 slices toasters in some cases, pop-up style, and the cold touch appliances to avoid burning incidents. The toaster ovens became more efficient and powerful while remaining small and conveniently located on your kitchen counter.
Here are below a few important things to think about before you choose the right toaster oven model that fits your needs:
Plan the space you will be able to allocate for your little oven, and then you can decide the size of the product. Measure carefully before going to the store to choose one. There should be some clearance space between cabinets and walls, so make sure you do calculate this.
You should also consider your budget of course. In addition to the price of the oven itself, think of the pans you will need to cook in your new appliance. Try to use the ones you already have, but you might have to purchase a few smaller ones.
Ask yourself what type of food you want to cook. Do you need a very powerful oven with more wattage or you are mainly looking to reheat meals? This will also determine what type of functions are important to you. I suggest you pay attention to the location of the light bulb, so it is easily accessible so you can actually change it as needed. I think it is awesome to have an integrated timer, but you can sue your own if you prefer. If you have used a convection oven, you will most likely want to choose a toaster oven offering the convention option. You can sometimes find frozen, bake, toasted, broil, slow cookie, leftovers warming, and numbers of other specific functions. Always think if its worth to you the extra money for more gadgets you may not use.
Finally, one feature I would highly suggest looking into is the removable crumbs tray. Favor the ones that are removable from the exterior, it will make your life much easier.
1. Hot and cheesy Bruschettas
This appetizer is very easy to make but it is still delightful. You can play with the type of cheese you will use and toppings. I personally lie to spice things up when I can, follow my lead if you wish!
Ingredients:
1 French bread, sliced
1 cups crumbled Goat cheese
1 tbsp. minced fresh parsley
1 cup diced fresh tomatoes
1 tbsp. red pepper flakes
1 tbsp. minced garlic
Olive oil
Servings: 4-6
Preparation time: 30 min
Method:
Preheat toaster oven to 350 degrees.
Place the sliced bread on the tray you will use or the baking dish.
Brush olive oil on each slice.
In a bowl, combine the tomatoes, garlic, parsley and red pepper flakes and add a generous portion on each slice.
Top it off with the goat cheese or other cheese selected.
Cook for about 10-12 minutes.
2. A small cheese souffl
You will love how cheesy this small dish is. I often make this dish with a salad and call it a meal. My children love helping as they choose their favorite cheeses to add on to the recipe. Do not forget that you need to sir quite a while, so get your wrists in shape ahead!
Ingredients:
4 eggs, separate the yolks from the whites
cup whole milk
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. unsalted butter
Pinch salt
Pinch nutmeg
1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
Servings: 2
Preparation time: 35 min
Method:
First, preheat the toaster oven to 375 degrees F.
Grease 2 medium ramekins, safe for toaster-oven, and set aside.
You will need to use the stovetop as well. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour, on medium temperature. Stir constantly. Remove from the heat, then add the milk, previously warmed up.
Stir until the consistency begins to thicken. Add the salt, nutmeg, and yolks. Continue whisking for few minutes and let it sit.
In a bowl, place the egg whites and sue electric mixer to beat them. Once they are foamy enough, combine with the other eggs mixture and add the cheese.
Place the mixture into each ramekin and place in the toaster-oven to bake for approximately 20 minutes.
