Over 100 Natural Recipes for a Glowing, Beautiful You
CAROLINE BERCAW ISABEL BERCAW
Lets face it: Keeping ourselves looking gorgeous can get pricey. Between hair, makeup, and body care needs, one trip to the mall for all those lotions and potions can drain a persons bank account quicker than you can say Spa me!
And then theres the issue of ingredients. Commercially manufactured beauty products often have dozens of unpronounceable ingredients that sound as if they came directly from Dr. Stranges lab. Whats a health- and budget-conscious Glamazon to do?! Scale back on personal care? (Never!) If youre like us, grooming is not only a necessity, its a lifelong obsession.
So, several years ago, when we realized we could make our own beauty products naturally, at home, it was as if a glitter bomb of excitement went off in our heads. Since then, weve been experimenting with everything from eye shadow to highlighter, blush to conditioning treatments. And, if youre willing to follow along with us, were ready to teach you everything you need to know to make your very own, utterly exciting, nontoxic, totally customized beauty arsenal!
The best part about the recipes in this book is that you dont have to be an expert to make them. Theyre surprisingly easy, even for a DIY newbie. And, in many cases, you might have most of the ingredients already sitting in your pantry. (Any missing ingredients can be easily ordered online). Before you know it, youll be confidently concocting hair masks, shampoos, bronzers, blush, and maybe even deodorant!
But before we dive into the good stuff, heres a little background info: Weve been superfans of natural DIY bath and beauty for practically as long as we could open a jar of organic coconut oil. When we were just ten and twelve years old, we started making bath bombs, body scrubs, lip balm, and eye shadow in our basement as a hobby. Our friends and family liked our creations so much that we soon found ourselves selling our most popular product (bath bombs) at pop-up shopping events in our community. And finally, in April of 2015, at the ripe old ages of twelve and fourteen, we officially co-founded our bath and body products company, Da Bomb Bath.
Fast-forward to today. Our fun little pastime has somehow grown into a multimillion-dollar company! We now sell to more than 25,000 stores all over the United States. Though weve expanded our product line to include a full range of products like exfoliating scrubs, therapeutic bath salts, foaming bath powder, and lip gloss, our commitment to simple ingredients remains very much at the top of our minds. And no matter how busy it gets in our test kitchen, were usually there developing new recipes for commercial and at-home use. When we formulate new recipes for commercial sale, a product needs to go through lots of testing to make sure it meets all the rules and regulations and has a retail-ready shelf life. But when you make something at home for immediate use, you have a whole new level of freedom to minimize ingredients and maximize freshness.
So whether youre ready to devote an entire wing of your home to natural makeup and body care or youre hoping to start by investing in just a few key ingredients, well have you flexing your beauty formulation muscles in no time! Are you ready to begin? Then head over to your kitchen and lets get this party started!
MAKING YOUR OWN NATURAL MAKEUP, HAIR CARE, SKIN CARE, AND BEAUTY PRODUCTS IS ALREADY SO MUCH FUN. TO KNOW THAT THESE BEAUTY PRODUCTS HAVE ADDED BENEFITS IS A HUGE BONUS. WHAT FOLLOWS IS A LIST OF ALL-NATURAL INGREDIENTS THAT ARE USED IN THE RECIPES IN THIS BOOK AND ALL OF THE INCREDIBLE WAYS THAT THEY BENEFIT YOUIN ADDITION TO MAKING YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL.
