There never would have been a Scarf Style 2, or any other books in the ever-expanding Style series for that matter, if Pam Allen hadnt written the original Scarf Style in 2004. My appreciation for the stage Pam set is endless. And I am indebted to Interweave Press for allowing me to add this latest edition to the series.

Who knew back in 2004 when Pam Allen wrote the first Scarf Style that scarvesand their cousin shawls, cowls, stoles, and wrapswould inspire such creativity among knitters? Instead of being the obligatory first project for beginners, scarves have been elevated to fashion necessities that run the gamut from rustic and casual to sophisticated and elegant. Whereas scarves were once uninventive garter-stitch rectangles, they now include rectangles, tubes, and mobius strips knitted from every direction and in every imaginable stitch pattern.
Like its predecessor Scarf Style, Scarf Style 2 is a book of scarves to knit and a book about knitting scarves. It is a collection of twenty-six patterns from twenty-four knitwear designers, each of whom has instilled unique style into this most basic accessory. From three-dimensional entrelac in Kathryn Alexanders , youll find a wide variety of ideas that will make your fingers itch to cast on. At once relatively small and portable, each project in this book is an individual lesson on inspiration, shaping, knitting direction, and specific techniquesall designed for excellent results.
Knit any of the scarves exactly as shown or use them as springboards for your own creative ideas. All of the design techniquesshape, knitting direction, designing with different stitch patterns, edgings, and embellishmentsare explained in the for an assortment of references.
Its now time to grab yarn and needles and knit a bit of your own scarf style!
DESIGNED BY MELISSA J. GOODALE
For this reversible scarf, Melissa J. Goodale worked the cable stitches in a k4, p4 rib pattern so that the knit stitches would stand out on both sides of the fabric. Melissa began the scarf with a tubular cast-on at the neck edge that flows into k2, p2 rib and finished it with a bit of k2, p2 rib and a tubular bind-off at the shoulder edge. Increases worked before the first row of the cable pattern and again after the last row result in a crescent shape that stays put around the neck and shoulders.
About 62" (157.5 cm) around outer curve and 734" (19.5 cm) tall.
Worsted weight (#4 Medium).
Shown here: Rowan Lima (84% baby alpaca, 8% merino, 8% nylon; 109 yd [100 m]/50 g): #882 Titicaca (green heather), 4 skeins.
Size U.S. 1012 (6.5 mm): 24" (60 cm) circular (cir).
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
