Acknowledgments
I can't begin to thank everybody who made this book possible, because I'd have to thank everybody who took me to the position I have right now at the University of Cincinnati, from my parents who raised me to Rick Taylor and Dr. Joseph Steger who hired me. Go through every media guide of every university that employed me, and look at all the people associated with those programs, and you could put almost every one of them on a list of the acknowledgments here.
If I made a list of all the good people who deserve to be thanked, it would be an entire book in itself. It makes me a fortunate man to have known all of them but unfortunate in that I can't thank all of them individually in this space. So generally, I'd just like to thank all of my teammates and my own players, all the people I coached for and with and who coached me, and all the people who helped me out along the way. There have been so many great people, caring people, from Ed McCluskey who combined with my father to teach me about basketball to Ron Grinker who helped see me through the decision concerning the Miami Heat without ever thinking of himself. I'd also like to thank everyone at Sagamore Publishing who helped produce this book and who understood when my schedule got so chaotic and Renie Heroux, who helped make sure the project kept going even when I couldn't be there.
Finally, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mike Bass for his dedication and understanding as we attempted to do this book. Mike was very sensitive to my time constraints and hectic lifestyle. Certainly without Mike's expertise and understanding, this endeavor could never have taken place.

I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Bob Huggins, first and foremost, for letting me into his world and allowing me not just to record his words but to gain the proper insight into the man and his program

by inviting me to watch him operate. He allowed me to observe closed practices and meetings, to sit with the team on the bench and in the locker room, to travel with him on a recruiting trip (and brave the front passenger seat) and to the NCAA Tournament. It helped me better understand what he is all about and why he is so successful, which made my questions for our actual interviews more informed and made this book more insightful. I appreciate Bob putting up with all my nagging over clearing interview time, not to mention all the hours he spent answering hundreds of questions about sometimes-sensitive topics concerning his life and his coaching style.
There are so many people I'd like to thank for helping make this book possible and my life easier, particularly Brian Goldberg, who helped me work out the deal for the project and whose friendship is most valued; Ron Grinker, who not only represents Bob but who went out of his way to help get the contract finished and to provide me insights into his client and friend; P.J. Combs, who helped me transcribe hours and hours of taped interviews before he received an opportunity with the Cincinnati Bengals he richly deserves; and Renie Heroux, who is Bob's right hand and was instrumental in making certain he and I kept in touch and kept this book alive. The list could go on forever of people who helped provide me information and technical help for this book and I apologize right now to anyone I exclude but I'd also like to thank Gerald O'Dell, Scooter Taylor, Jayd Grossman, Tom Robinson, John Loyer, Larry Harrison, Angelo Colosimo, Ken Stephens, Joe Roberts, Terry Nelson, Steve Moeller, Steve Green, Bill Mulvihill, June Huggins, Tom Hathaway, John Hamel, Chuck Machock, Betsey Maidens, Dana Hauck, Bill Koch, Mark Tomasik, Chris Cummins, Nick Van Exel, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Billy Packer, Dave Wohl, Skip Prosser, John Calipari, members of the 1994-95 University of Cincinnati basketball team (Art Long, Danny Fortson, Darnell Burton, Damon Flint, Keith LeGree, John Jacobs, LaZelle Durden, Jackson Julson, Keith Gregor, Curtis Bostic, Bobby Brannen), and the sports information departments at Cincinnati, West Virginia, Akron, Ohio, Ohio State, Central Florida and Walsh.
