Shirley Tarbell has a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Iowa. Before entering graduate school she was a secretary for years and believes that, without good secretaries, the country would fall apart.

Why Enter the Administrative Assistant Field?
So you're considering a career as an administrative assistantgood for you! This book is designed to help you on your way into this challenging career. You can get into the field as quickly or as slowly as you want. You can go into a six-month to one-year certificate program, a one-year diploma program, or a two-year associate degree program, or you can choose to go on for a four-year bachelor's degree. Whichever you choose, you'll stand an excellent chance of getting a good job when you finish school. You can get good training on the job too. Temporary agencies routinely offer free computer software courses to their employees, and most permanent administrative assistant jobs offer computer training as well. And advanced computer knowledge will make you an employer's dream. This book will give you the knowledge to select the type of training that's right for you.
