THE EVERYTHING GUIDE TO FOOD REMEDIES
Dear Reader,
After choosing to study and work in the field of nutrition and wellness, I quickly learned that the focus was less about food and more about isolated nutrients, replacers, and pills. As a result, my excitement about wellness dwindled and my frustration with health issues in our society grewuntil I began to travel and rediscovered real food.
Traveling taught me to look at food from a cultural perspective. It brought me back to my roots of eating homegrown and homemade. It inspired me to cook, to reach into my past and the past of other cultures, and to adopt food practices while keeping the challenges of today in mind.
Most importantly, it taught me that real food, grown and nurtured, whether plant or animal, is medicine. Food provides the vitamins, minerals, and secret miracle substances we need to fight disease. It is all right there in each fresh, delicious, natural bite. We just have to eat it.
This book combines my desire for health, my fascination with food and its nutrients, and my love of cooking. I hope you will find the information and inspiration you need to eat, enjoy, and be well.
